Basically, I just wondered if anyone else has noticed that some outlets are leaning towards a more "if Mahomes had done this or that" narrative, in lieu of "the Bengals were great" kind of assessment. I know Monday morning quarterbacking is pretty much par for the course, but you don't usually hear this about the "usual suspect" so-to-speak "better" franchises. They usually just tout the winning team's success and not the losing team's shortfalls, as if, if not exclusively for those shortfalls, the roles would be reversed. Know what I mean?
We're not used to being in this position so we don't know how to react. I know when I went through the cavs championship though they would talk about LeBron a lot, but when Durant was on GSW, they didn't talk the same lol. So they like to talk about which team they think is better.
They expected KC to win and they think KC is better. They're going to have these narratives even after the super bowl. "I STILL THINK KC FAVORED NEXT YEAR", as if that won't make burrow repeat.

I think a team up 3 possessions giving up 21 unanswered points is really embarrassing for the Chiefs and, to the uninformed or casual viewer, I would blame that team more than I'd credit the other team as well.
But we know the truth.
Burrow went out and took that game and Patrick's soul.
Burrow avoided at least 3 sacks or 3rd down scrambles for a first down that made both me and my dad say "How did he get out of that!?"

I’ve only listened because I don’t have cable, but on KJM on ESPN, Keyshawn has said multiple times, chiefs should have won, but both Max and Jay have stepped in giving the defense credit and propping up Burrow. You’ll have some haters, but they’ll get more respect this week than last.
However, we will hear for 2 weeks about how Rams D-line will destroy our O-line. Something I keep hearing is they are still referring back to the Titans game and not including how we only gave up one sack yesterday.
Rams will get theirs, but give them credit for yesterday.

Its not just you. Seeing the same thing on Reddit. Nearly all discussion is on what Mahomes did wrong but hardly anything on what the Bengals did right. My fav was a tweet from Nick Wright saying contgrats Bengals, you earned it yet in the same tweet say the Chiefs imploded.
Which is it? We earned it or were given the game because the other team imploded?

Our adjustments are why we won, we put ourselves in the position to win, KC took themselves out with greediness not taking the points. But honestly can you blame them? Up until we stopped them at the half, we hadn’t stopped them once! So why not go for it and essentially put the nail in the coffin

We're getting some love. The Rams will get some credit because they also won in an impressive fashion, from what I've seen so far we're both getting crowned as the two best teams in the NFL.
Bolded, I would rather face the Rams D-line than the 49ers. They are no slouches but are definitely anemic on defense overall.
I think the narrative from former players/coaches on the shows/in the media is that the Bengals defensive adjustments changed this game around. Or at least allowed for it to be changed around. And the momentum shifted with the last play of the 1st half by the defense.
Now the non-player/coach pundits out there, who knows.

Rewatch that game, burrow escaped like 3 sacks and a few of them he was wrapped up and he escaped. The line played marginally better, but some screens helped and burrow used his legs more. That was the difference offensively yesterday.

Oh you don’t have to tell me, but that’s what good QBs do. But 1 sack is 1 sack. That’s still good.
First post – though I’ve lurked for years. I think they’re all a bit embarrassed. I’m in Columbus and toggle between 97.1 and 1460. All I heard last week (in between the Viagra commercials, of course) was how KC would destroy us. Crow is a dish best served cold. Give them a few days and they’ll come around.

To be honest, I think the offensive line also figured out the refs weren't going to call offensive holding. Both OLs were doing a lot of holding. That was a ref crew that just didn't call much and so there was a lot of defensive and offensive holding that was just being ignored.

That 3rd and 7 run getting out of being a human pretzel, then the high knees out of a shoestring and finally sprinting and holding the ball out to get the first down? Flat. Out. Insane.
