Tyler Higbee being out is a lot bigger than people realize and could help play a bigger role in this game that people expect, even if it doesn't show up in the state sheet.
First of all, he's a solid blocker in McVay's zone scheme and gets to the second level to block linebackers, which is especially effective because of the cutback because McVay likes to run to the weak side.
Next, even if he's not going a high target guy, if you've watched their games, McVay lines him up all over the field to create mismatches and for the defense out of position.
He also has a connection with Stafford, so he's a good outlet if Stafford gets in trouble.
In December of 2019, he put up 522 yards and two touchdowns, so he definitely has the ability to go off.
Higbee not there to occupy the safeties will allow more attention to be spent on Kupp and OBJ.
I'm liking our chances and Higbee being out gives me even more confidence!
