I find the analysis interesting on some of the OL listed by Prisco as being best options (top 100 available). A lot seem to be great run blockers, but have some issues in pass protection. I think that is the quandary, hard to find interior OL and RT that excel in both areas.
I think we need guys great in pass protection over run blocking if we can't sign a guy great in both. Does anyone have a change of opinion of who they want Bengals to go after after reading the in depth analysis of Prisco on the OL group?
Thoughts?
2024 may go on record as one of most underperforming teams in Bengal history. Bengal's FO has major work to do on defensive side of the ball. I say tag and trade Tee Higgins in 2025 to start with the rebuild.

Good stuff, Jensen and the Collins trade would be the top 2 targets as of today.

To dream a lot, I would love Collins in a trade, Jenson and Scherff or Bozeman (lot cheaper than Jenson) and Scherff
But I am know that is being ver the top optimistic

It's the way the league is going based on what they are getting from the NFL. Pass Blocking is hard and people that can do it well usually don't get away from teams.

It's fun to dream and play fantasy GM. It would be awesome to land Collins for a couple of later draft picks and then sign Jensen as a FA. That said, I agree it's too optimistic of thinking. It doesn't have to be doom and gloom if these specific moves don't occur, but it sure as hell would be fun if they did.

Bozeman will be north of 10M so be prepared. I like him as well.

No way it's later draft picks, maybe 31 + 63 for Collins + DAL 56

Why do you think it would have to be pick 31 since we see a guy like Mack not going for a 1st rounder? Mack is a star and plays the NFL-premium role of rushing the passer. If he can be had for 2nd rounders, surely Collins can?

Carolina sent a 2023 6th round pick to NE for Stephon Gilmore when he was 30 years old. No way I'm giving anything more than a 3rd and i think that's too much.

Ok Tom.
Who do you suggest we get, realistically, that would be better than Collins?

I'm all for getting Collins at the right price, I just think anything higher than a 3rd is too much. I'd be happy as can be with Collins at RT, Jonah at LT, Carmen at LG, Zion Johnson at RG and Bozeman/Jenson at Center.

He is an elite RT
No signing bonus
Not guaranteed money
10M per year for 3 more years
He's worth way more than a 3rd and other teams are in on this.
The Raiders have a high 1st they could swap and give up their 2nd.
We could our give our 1st and then swap 2nds moving us up.
If the Bengals do better than this then they have done wonders.
There is literally not one blocker in this draft at 31 and beyond remotely close to stepping in and playing at Collins level. We have no one on the roster close to this guy and add in the financial perks we get.....

I agree he would be option#1 at his price tag, but you're one failed/or bribed piss test from a year long suspension and Isiah Prince as your RT. 31 or 63 is too much for me to take a chance on this guy.

No doubt he's a top tier RT, but he's also a top tier dumbass. While I'm not really a fan of trading for him personally, if they choose to, it needs to be as low risk as possible in terms of draft capital.

I understand, but what is riskier than a draft pick? Especially us drafting oline.

Trading or swapping any picks higher than a 3rd rounder for a guy who was stupid enough to think he could avoid testing by not showing up to be tested, and when that didn't work, attempting to bribe the tester?

That's the typical OL - good in run or pass, not both.
Those guys are very rare.
You could argue either way:
If the Bengals can really boost the run game, that should more running, thus less passing snaps for Burrow to get sacked.
On the other hand, the Bengals are better at passing, so strengthening the pass blocking should just allow better protection for Burrow when he does pass.
I'd assume they'd choose pass protection over run blocking given the team is more pass-oriented, but maybe they want to really push the run given the success they did have while having a bad run blocking OL this past year.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!
