It is tougher than people think to switch from RB to WR. Even RBs who catch a ton of passes generally don't get open by route running. Instead they catch a lot of screens, swing passes, wheel routes, check-down dump-offs, and things like that. Route running is an underrated skill and NFL level WRs spend hundreds of hours working on it.
Also RBs usually catch the ball in space instead of with a defender hanging on them. |
