Daniel Jerimiah Top 50

Not sure how accurate this is.
Looks like we'll be in a good spot to nab an olineman, dlineman, or corner at the end of round 1.
Also looks like secondary priorities of WR, TE, and LB should provide value.
I'd love to see best player available. If that lined up with oline/dline I'd be ecstatic. But if BPA is a corner, that would be a great pick as well.
I'm not so sure we need a skill position, or a linebacker if we resign Pratt. But you have to draft BPA.

In my opinion, if we were better in the trenches it would move the needle more than investing elsewhere.

I look at the Eagles and they are better than us because of their oline/dline.
Skill-position-wise they are a little worse than us but not far off.
They have a quicker running back that is more effective than Mixon.
But where they really outshine us is in the trenches on both sides of the ball--but primarily on offense.
This is where games are won and lost primarily in this league.

I'd love to see us invest heavily in the oline/dline with good value picks.

Anyone on this list look like a good fit from 25-40?

Wright would be a great fit at RT if the Bengals want to implement more of a physical, gap-style system.
Powerful mover in the run game, wall that you basically have to hope to run around in the pass game.

I really like both Will McDonald and Tuli Tuipulotu if the teams wants to add a pass rusher.
McDonald would have to be a pure edge guy, whereas Tuipulotu is a guy who could flex between base DE and 3T.

Laporta is one of my favorites on Day 2.
Surprised to see Johnston rated so low by Jeremiah. If he's there at 28 (remember there's only 31 picks in Rd 1 this year), he'd be hard to pass up.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I think we're out of range for the best OT prospects like Peter Skoronski, Broderick Jones and Paris Johnson Jr, so the first two players I'm looking at in this draft are Darnell Wright and Dawand Jones. Big strong RT prospects that would help in the running game and would not be a massive liability in the passing game. If we exit the 2nd round with one of those two guys, I'll feel pretty good about our Oline in 2023. If we're relying on Collins and Adeniji at RT, we're in trouble. We've made the mistake of thinking okay was good enough. Let's turn this Oline into a legitimate strength and not fall victim to a late game quick sack/QB hit with the season on the line for the 3rd time in a row.

Beyond them, there are so many CBs and edge defenders at the top of this draft, I could see a surprising value at 28 with one of them. 8 CBs and 11 edge players in the top 50 is a dense class, for sure.

We only need depth at these two positions, with Hendrickson/Hubbard/Ossai probably taking ~75% of the total edge snaps and Awuzie, CTB, Hilton and possibly Apple (as the first off the bench) taking ~90% of the CB snaps over the course of the season, but a pass rush specialist would be a welcome addition and depth at CB is always nice, especially with Awuzie coming off of injury and heading into a contract year.

At CB, I particularly like Emmanuel Forbes and Christian Gonzalez. These two are playmakers who would fit in perfectly with our opportunistic defense. Forbes is probably more athletic, but isn't as physical as Gonzalez so there's a little bit of give and take between the two.

At Edge, I like Derick Hall and and Will McDonald IV. They both are great pass rushers but leave a little to be desired in stopping the run. I'd personally stay away from Felix Anudike-Uzomah and Lukas Van Ness. Both seem like decent pass rushing DEs that may be best at setting the line against the rush at the next level. We already have Hubbard and Sample for that. We need a speedster to collapse the pocket.

And finally, I'd think about Darnell Washington. He's a 6th lineman on run plays who can also catch the ball. That would help so many facets of our team. We don't necessarily need another receiving threat, but someone who can help the run game without signaling run to the defense would be clutch.

There are obviously other players who would be fine additions, but those are the players and positions that I'd be focusing on in the first 2 rounds.

45 of the top 100 draft players in 2022 was at the Senior Bowl. There is a high chance whoever the Bengals pick at #28 or #61 is in Mobile today.

Tyrique Stevenson and Deonte Banks, both CB's, seem like solid options if either is there at the end of round two.

Alabama usually cranks out pretty good WRs. So getting their top pass catcher is usually a pretty good thing.

Well it just so happens their top pass catcher was their RB.

I kept seeing Jahmyr Gibbs name after Bijan so I figured I’d check him out.

OMG. He looks so explosive with great contact balance the ability to take it the distance to be a stud pass catcher and a returner. He gets a lot of Kamara comps.

If you stick him in the backfield of this offense… Idk man, seems like he would take us up another level.

I've been trying to toy with mocks to take OT and then Gibbs. It pleases me thinking of how much better we would get. I'm actually starting to feel comfortable taking a slight down grade to our D (lose Pratt and Bates with questionable replacements) to blow open our O capabilities.

I am fully on board with drafting Gibbs. He is electric and imo is the missing piece to the offense we’re running. He reminds me of Kamara and Etienne. Having a back who can take a check down pass to the house would change everything

Gibbs is the real deal. Him and Bryce Young were all we had on offense this year(relatively speaking). I posted about letting Mixon walk and taking Gibbs at 28 a few months ago.
Let Mixon walk and resign Samaje to hammer between the tackles.
Gibbs may be too small to hold up in pass pro but he’d be an absolutely lethal safety valve for Joe. Would eliminate some of those five up plays we had Sunday. Teams have to play Chase and Higgins safe so the flats and short yardage stuff should be there. Gibbs has elite acceleration and change of direction as well as pass catching ability.
I envision him being used as a Brian Westbrook/Marshall Faulk type back. Those guys were part of all time offenses and so can Gibbs.

We are at the stage where an impact starter could put us over the top, and I don’t see any other ones being there at 28 like an o lineman or elite corner or linebacker. Go Gibbs and get depth later

Gibbs is 28 on Jerimiah's list, so that would make sense.

I like the idea of turning the backfield over to Perine to save money, while drafting a great RB prospect that is quick and good in the receiving game.

By what some of you guys are saying I'm not sure he falls to us. But running backs have certainly fallen before.

I like the potential of a pick like this because Taylor hasn't really missed on skill players high in the draft. He would definitely add explosiveness/speed to our backfield, and receiving ability.

If there is depth in the draft to draft a corner or lineman in the 2nd/3rd, I'd be good with that.

Also, the nice thing about drafting a running back in the 1st is you can do a 5th year option on him to keep the contract lower.

And turn and burn the position since it has the fastest drop off in production?

If you can't afford to keep him after 5 years, it's easy to draft running backs. 2nd round is great for that.

My dream would be Gibbs then for Emanuel Forbes to be there on the second. Doubt that happens though. No matter what we need to take at least 2 most likely 3 o linemen in the draft and hope one pops

No Anton Harrison or Dawand Jones? I would love to draft either of these tackles.

Bengals need RBs who can pass block.

Gibbs is a wonderful talent but we should pass...

I don't see how we can afford to take a RB in the 1st round.  That 5th year option saves us what $4M?   An OT or CB saves $10-15M and we would be more likely to want to extend one of those....

KC's Pacheco was a 7th rounder... lots of backs can look good in a high powered passing offense with a decent oline.

I'm a big proponent of getting Gibbs but only if its luxury. If we still have spots that need upgrades, they should get the spotlight.

You have to stick to your board.  You can't just say best T or CB available in the 1st when there are none worth the pick.
