Bills defensive back makes strong statement about Bengals QB Joe Burrow

A key Buffalo Bills player made quite the statement about Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow this week

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow received some major respect this week from Buffalo Bills defensive back Micah Hyde.
It's hard to believe, but Burrow has only played against the Bills once -- the Bengals' win against Buffalo in the playoffs this past season.
(Cincinnati and Buffalo started a game late during the 2022 regular season, but the matchup was canceled after Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on the field.)




Despite only playing against the Bengals once, Hyde has seen enough from Burrow to suggest that the former LSU star is the best at running the two-minute drill in the NFL.
"Joe Burrow is someone that sticks out in recent years," said Hyde on Friday during an appearance on NFL Network's Good Morning Football. "He's one of those guys that no matter how much time is on the clock, he's going to get it done. And with weapons like [Ja'Marr Chase], you gotta be able to stop all those guys. He's so smart. He knows what [defense] you're going to be in. We saw it firsthand in the playoff game and what he was able to do to us."

Hyde told NFL Network's Kyle Brandt that Burrow demoralized the Bills by "nickel and diming" the Buffalo defense all the way down the field.
The "nickel and dime" comment from Hyde wasn't an insult, by the way. Hyde said that was how the Bills wanted to dictate the game, but Burrow was good enough to still make Buffalo pay.
It didn't take long for Burrow to adjust to how defenses were defending him. Opponents had some success early last season by playing soft coverages against the Bengals, essentially taking away the deep shots. Burrow eventually decided to take what the defense was giving him and it worked beautifully for the Cincinnati offense -- the Bengals won their final eight games of the regular season.
Between Burrow's ability to deliver in two-minute situations and the adjustments he's been able to make to NFL defenses, it's not surprising that he's receiving praise from a respected player like Micah Hyde.

Good to know that he has versatility in his play and that teams will have to spend time planning for the 2-minute drill on top of all the other ways he can destroy you.

Palmer was the king of the two-minute drill, so let's hope Burrow can be even better!

It would be a nice wrinkle to throw into the game at random times to keep defenses off-balance!

When you are an elite processor of defensive plays AND elite accuracy at the same time you get guys like Peyton Manning and Joe Burrow. Burrows pocket presence and ability to get out of sacks is just icing on the cake.


Those skills would absolutely transfer to being great in 2/4 minute drills

I think CJ Stroud is the next young guy that has that in him.

Micah is correct. That is what was so sweet about Joe's growth last season, he started out wanting the big play and that cost
us early, then he calmed down and just took what Defense's gave him and it was nearly unstoppable. He will only get better
at this with his smarts, accuracy and the way he can throw Receivers open. Imagine a great OL in front of him.

All true and that is why it killed me in the AFCCG when we had 2 minutes to score and lose.  2 critical downs and go for the long completions.

I don’t want this to be another Bengals what if.


Like what if Kenny Irons played?

What if Palmer never got hurt against Pitt?

What if the line held for just one second longer against the Rams?

What if Pollack and Thurman stayed together for 10 years?



I don’t want to put “What if Joe Burrow had an offensive line” on that list. Especially because it’s not that hard to gather lineman that want to play with Burrow. Burrow is the “it” guy right now.

He will learn from that. That is what is nice now, it isn't a once in a lifetime thing going to an AFC Championship anymore.

We fix the OL and we should be favorites to be right back this season.

I don’t want to put “What if Joe Burrow had an offensive line” on that list. Especially because it’s not that hard to gather lineman that want to play with Burrow. Burrow is the “it” guy right now.

True, need to make sure we do whatever we can to make sure Burrow has EVERYTHING to get it done.

No excuses, he is here, now is the time to protect him and add a great running game to take pressure off of him.
