Bengals Board Fantasy Baseball (The Show)
I've been struggling on pitching also. I shouldn't have won this week, but as Luis Tiant said, " I'd rather be Lucky ".

I'm coasting to an easy win this week. Next week is a big match-up with first place Dune Dogs, a long time player and always tough. Dune Dogs is always a threat to win the season. I'm coming in HOT, but sometimes after a big week, you have an off week. I'd like to give Dune Dogs a tough series. Dune Dogs and Houndizzles have been powers in this league many years. Us new comers always have our work cut out against these 2 long time power players.

I'm not so certain that my team is anything to be concerned about until they start hitting!...Lol. I certainly wouldn't consider you a new comer, Kevin. Your teams are always tough, and you've proven that ole dogs can learn new tricks when you adapted with your RPs after seeing another manager have some success with that strategy.

It's still early! At the moment I see Kevin, DDs, Guz, and Knights as having the strongest teams. I have a nice cushion for the day but Bubba's pitching comes in hot today. We'll see if it's enough. Tecmo looks to be in a battle as well. As I mentioned before, when a league is this strong, and six get in the playoffs; even .500 teams have a shot at the Ship.

Any team in the league can get beat on any given week.

Everybody has a Win now, and 1-3 has teams in The Hunt, if they know it or not. Especially since some of these 1-3 teams will be 2-3 after this week.

I see players. I don't have a roster spot at this time, but I see players. There are going to be many good MLB players this year, more than in some years. If my team was struggling, I see players I would add. However I just put up 400 points, so don't rock the boat, as the old funky disco song sang.

Somebody on here said it. When you are last in waivers, you have nothing to lose using a waiver. I saw a pitcher I wanted back this weekend, I'm last still in waivers since Yelich move. So I used a waiver and if it goes through, I am 12th and stay at 12th. Dumping a hitter who was batting .355 so I added him, and he has been cold since I got him. I don't need 4 first basemen anyway. Also dropped Diaz this week, but then Clase day to day so I added 5 save Pagan that Terry Francona settling in with......I'm glad somebody said when you are last in waivers, you have nothing to lose. I need a Pitcher more than a 4th first baseman.

I started to grab Pagan the night before you added him, but chose to go with the closer in Detroit instead.
I figured that he would be the guy moving forward, but it was still a little murky at that time. Good add though!

I had only 120 points to start my Friday. I ran out 4 SPs and finished the night around 170ish...It's just not my week!

The pitching penalties for negative points are brutal. One bad start by even an ace pitcher can destroy a team for the week.

My offense had 65 points last night. One SP had -29. SP is basically a significant gamble with the scoring system any given day.

Me too! -29 by Rodriguez last night and I plugged in two pitchers last week that both went negative. Killed me!

We reigned in the hitting some, but didn't mess with pitching. Definitely something that I will bring up to DDs, and we can look at some possible changes for next season on that front.

Of course 2 years ago Pitching was too easy with the type error of 10 points per inning instead of 1 point.   I have negative pitching points myself.  I think the awful April weather has held back pitching.  I look for pitching to become better now into May.

I'm trying 2 pitchers coming off IL,  Ranger Suarez and Lance McCullers.  One I had on IL, so I dropped a player and added Shane McClanahan to take Suarez spot on my IL.  I ended up dropping Lux at 2nd/ SS and adding Story.   I have no idea if Suarez or McCullers will do anything.  I added and dropped Reds Diaz before Reds sent him back to minors.  I'm willing to give Ranger and Lance a try coming off IL.

I would love to carry more bench hitters, but the start of season has me struggling to find pitchers I can count on.  I'm even looking at pitchers who have been very injured coming off finally getting to do soft toss after months or years of doctors saying no baseball.   There are young pitchers who have did great, but sent back to minors.  When all these good young pitchers start getting called up, we will all get pitchers in this league in 2025.   These teams are not going to be able to keep all these pitchers who did well in their major league outings, down on the farm.  There is a bunch of them ready to hit the Majors to stay.

I'm liking my chances against kevin so far. I'm only down 107 to 18.

DDs called me to give me shite because I grabbed Giolito, literally as he was about to add him, and then the mfr went -21   Shocked

So yeah, that sucked!  Hilarious

In hindsight I wish that I had been a little slower with that addition and that -21 would have fallen on his team.

It's early.  I have no starting pitchers Thursday or Friday.  I see you making a run.  It's not like I scored 200 points early in week.  This is far from over.  The pitchers I do have this weekend have to face hitters like The Yankees and other strong hitting teams.  Negative pitching points for me very possible this weekend.

I hate to say that I've added more stating pitching in the last 24 hours.  My hope is I can find a batch that I can count on and dump some of them more into season.  Whoever gets the job done.  I'm not going to go on pitchers of the past now getting hammered or now too injured.  I want some to earn pitching spots on my team.  I would like to have more batters and relievers as season goes along, but I'm finding quality pitching starters hard to find.  I said Quality pitching starters.  Right now I have a bag of very questionable starters in hopes a couple of them actually come through.

These pitchers coming off IL.  Suarez got rocked 1st game but did well today I had him on bench.  McCullers did well his first game but got rocked by Reds today.  Still, I have to treat this like Spring Training on players back from IL.  They are not in mid season mode.  They are working back from major injuries, so some bad outings have to be expected just like pitching in March in Spring Training.  I won't know what Ranger Suarez or McCullers really have until a few more starts. By end of June, I will know more if they are back from injury enough to help.  It takes a few weeks working IL players back in.

I benched pitchers Sunday. Sometimes with a lead on Sunday, why take a chance on negative pitching points. Of course if behind on Sunday, you throw a Hail Mary and start as many pitchers as you can. Unless you are too far behind, and in that case you look to Monday and Tuesday om Sunday morning.

I didn't put up great points, but Tecmo had an off week, so it made sense to bench my pitchers and make Tecmo catch me. I wasn't going to help him with pitchers maybe putting up minus 30 negative points and maybe close to 100 minus negative points. When you have the lead going into Sunday, you have to think about that. It turns out they did go Negative points, so it was best to bench my later games Sunday pitchers before 4 PM.

I would not want to play Tecmo this week. Often a low scoring week is followed by 300 to 400 points week by all teams.
