Joe Burrow injury updates
I have created a topic in the feedback forum to get this thread name changed to “Joe Burrow Update”.

Anyone who may agree could go put a thumbs up, or comment with support. I agree, this is such a deflating topic to see at the top every day when we are getting updates.

Some are claiming inside information ("sources within the Bengals camp," etc.) There is no one here who is "looking silly running around like their hair is on fire" or "lacking common sense."  No one is jumping off bridges or saying the sky is falling. They are simply disseminating information from other sources as part of debating an issue of profound importance to the Bengals.

Two days later, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler is reporting Burrow will be ready by Week 1 despite the speculation on ESPN radio.

With Cleveland only getting one or two, do you bet big now and just hope that's accurate?

I think it will be several weeks from when Zac Taylor said it would be several weeks. Ninja

This is the quote from Jeremy Fowler:

"People I've talked to do believe that for Week 1, he'll be ready to go," Fowler said. "They're taking this really slowly. It would be at least a mild surprise if he played in some of the preseason action, but we'll see if it shakes out or if that calf perks up. It's a calf strain, it's something that he can manage and he's slowly working his way back. Signs are pointing in the right direction."

This is the type of lies the media spews. This is the day before Burrow was running and throwing. Dianna Russini is an idiot once again when it comes to Bengals reporting. No one told her anything.

Agree, Joe looked good before the game, he will be ready I have no doubt

Why would anyone not like that?  I want to see that my franchise QB is healthy and ready to knock the rust off before the season starts.

You didn't present the quote, just the summary, so I looked up the full quote and thought it might be interesting to add. I was offering something complementary to what you found.

Today is the 16th day since the injury, which would mean by his timetable Burrow will start participating in practices next week.

I suppose it is likely these other sites are just blowing smoke to have something to talk about, when they speculate a longer time out although why they don't care about their reputation befuddles me. Look at the "Bengals authority" who  was claiming, before the draft, that Higgins had all the details of his contract worked out. I don't know how he recovers his reputation from that.

Welcome to the 21st century, where hot takes and clicks are in the forefront, the truth takes a back seat at best. Tied up and muzzled in the trunk or left behind entirely are probably more like it.

I don't want him anywhere near a preseason game. He can get all the work he needs with his receivers in practice where he's protected.

If he plays it would only be with his starting line. After being out for several weeks I think it would be good for him to get some live action in before week 1.

It's pretty easy to assume Kay meant model organization from a record/championships standpoint.

Yes, Ravens and Steelers have had some players with questionable character, just like the Bengals.

But in regard to franchise winning percentage and number of championships...
Ravens - 2 Super Bowl wins, .561 franchise record (3rd highest in the NFL)
Steelers - 6 Super Bowl wins, .536 franchise record (10th highest in the NFL)

Playoff record specifically:
Ravens and Steelers - .571 (tied for 4th best)

I'm not defending Kay, just speculating what she was basing her vague statement off of, as everyone has their own subjective opinion of "model franchise."
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

People keep saying that. but if you listen to the players and coaches, they get much better work in during practice than in preseason games. There's no need for the risk. One misstep and the season can be over. And yes, that can happen in game 1, but at least game 1 counts. Preseason does not count for anything other than to give the Ratbirds something to crow about.

In a related note, has anyone else ever noticed sometimes very similar articles posted on sites like stripehype and the like later in the day or next day after someone here has posted a topic/discussion?
I wouldn't be surprised if this board had some posters who put articles out there or frequent this board to see what may be getting discussed and make an article about the topic because of it.
