What I know is Thomas was Team Captain and an ST ace. He gave his jersey to TA as a sign of "passing the torch".

Because the captaincy wasn't his to convey.  It was a role given to him by his teammates

The whole idea that someone would think someone who has never played a real NFL snap with the Bengals would be made a captain above those named, or even Hubbard, Boyd or a myriad of others is insane.
