Those are the two lowest-paid positions among DBs.
I'm just thrilled that Lou has finally found a positional home for a 1st round draft pick, as after two "meh" seasons I was beginning to have my doubts. But yes, it will work out better for Hill financially to play boundary CB. Personally, I don't care about his finances, I just care about seeing the team play well.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Yea.
Just looking at the 5th year option if he has a solid year at CB it'll be like 12 to 15m if he makes a Pro Bowl it'll be around 20m guaranteed.

Well of course.
You are the end user of the product/service.
Why would you care what the employees are making?
What you care about is getting a high quality product/service that meets or exceeds your expectations.
But for many employees, while I'm sure they care about their customer base to some extent, their personal finances are higher priority for them ultimately.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

If Dax plays well this season we better pick up his option as he could be spendy to extend as Ocho says good boundary Corners get paid big.

Yep the top paid CBs are getting $20+ mill APY now.
11 players >$15 mill.
I get the impression the Bengals will start paying CBs again once all the current big contracts on the DL go away.
BJ Hill - $10.8 mill this season
Hendrickson - $20.1 mill this season, $18.6 mill next
Hubbard - $10.1 mill this season, $11.6 mill next
Rankins - $11.9 mill this season, $12.5 mill next
2026 is when we'll start seeing the $$ dished out to the next crop of core guys like CTB, maybe Hill, Murphy, etc.
Or maybe they'll start putting some of the money percentage that's going toward defense over toward the offense like Chase.

What's to say if Hill has a great season he doesn't pull a Ja'Marr Chase and demand a huge contact extension that pays him big money next year and his 5th year option year?

Idk if I’m happy or mad that he’s beating out DJ Turner

You should obviously be happy. You never want to whiff on 1st round picks. Turner can still end up becoming a starter when Hilton leaves.

100% this.
Ideally, you don't want to whiff on 2nd round picks either, so if both Hill and Turner end up becoming starters with the Bengals (and play at least solid obviously), that's what we want.
Bengals invested A LOT of draft capital into DBs in the past few years, so it's important for those to pay dividends.
However, if these players aren't starting until their contract year and then ship off elsewhere, they really aren't returning much for the Bengals.
Hopefully they all blossom this/next year and can be retained on veteran contracts if they end up playing well.

It's not mutually exclusive that if Dax is good Turner is not. Both could be really good players, Dax just a better really good player.

Yes, if we have some good Corners we need to start paying them. I think we already have a really good one in CTB and truly believe
that both Dax and DJ could become some good ones. Probably will only be able to pay two though.

Eh, not every player is like an elite WR. WR's tend to be the most immature players. Thinking we might need to make an example of
Chase if he doesn't play because a contract couldn't get done to his liking. The Bengals have the power here, not Chase.

You should be very happy given CTB's propensity to miss time.
