So we've debated the poor game and causes a lot. I'm a big Burrow fan. But, it seems to take him a few games to react to game speed and go through the right reads.
Then, I see this:

Wow that 10 yard curl with Ja'Marr that is bad quarterbacking. That's bread & butter with your #1 receiver.

If only we had a few games before Week 1 where winning and losing didn't matter that Joe Burrow could get up to speed in.

I fully expect burrow to yo have us in the mix at the end of the season but "takes a few regular season games to get up speed" isn't the kind of thing you expect to be saying about a 1st overall pick in his 5th year.

Didn't even look that way. Dumped it down. Pockets were as clean as they get.
Now maybe all the sacks and injuries he's accumulated are building up like David Carr. I don't know.
It feels like early season he doesn't process stuff well. Then after several games, he's an elite processor.

Well, we had 'Bad Andy,' so why not 'Early-season Joe?'
Unrelated to that, is it wrong to hope that Bryce gets yanked before our week 4 tilt with Carolina? Personally, I'd love one last Andy matchup.

None of this was ever reported in training camp - he was making the throws. He talked about how confident he felt.
No idea why people are thinking he cant make throws with the wrist. He threw deep balls all training camp. We saw some in the pre season game.
Just weird people are thinking its physical. Its tabloid type stuff.
It's all mental with Joe. He starts slow every freaking year. People need to chill the hell out.
The boys are just talkin' ball, babyyyy

Can we call him "Morning Joe" instead?
That's more fun
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

a torn scapholunate tendon injury......you can see with your own eyes the discomfort Joe was having wit his wrist...you think the team is going to report a concern like this ?...and ts not a question of throwing the ball deep..its a question of accuracy and /or lack of pain

Then he isn't an elite NFL QB like most here say he is and should have not have been paid like one. He should be ready day 1, game 1, Q1 of the regular season to play at an elite or close to it level. That is unless an injury is causing these problems.

Good chance Dalton could eat thru this defense. He is a pretty sharp old QB still.

Dude got paid 275 million to play a game! A game with one of the longest off seasons, shortest seasons and fewest games of any? pro sport and we are supposed to just accept that this 275 million dollar dude just needs a few loses at the beginning of each season to get going???
Ah hell no!! That's insane!

I feel like Dalton is going to be one of those guys that play until they're like 45 as a backup somewhere.

The offense looked bad at the start of last year and the year before too.
That said...when Burrow got drafted here, a lot of the experts said the Bengals would ruin him. I'm not going to say it happened. And maybe this last injury was more fluke than negligence...but, I don't think he's many more injuries away from having a shorter career peak.
Maybe his playing style is part of the issue? Maybe it's the offensive lines? Maybe it's calling too many passes? Maybe it's just fluke injuries.

At times, he doesn't look elite. At times, he looks a tad bit better than Mahomes.
But, Higgins and Chase are a big part of that. It's hard to evaluate it.
At times, some of the Bengals look indifferent. Then later in the year when the stakes are higher, there's more fire. I don't know.

Mahomes does it with different players year after year. His 6 year record proves without a doubt he is an elite NFL QB. 6 years, 3 of 4 SB wins , that's elite with a different roster, new LT, new RB's , new receivers. The KC organization is better in every way from top to bottom than the Bengals.

I think they have the system down. Plug new players in and it works.
Here, I think the system relies on guys like Chase and Higgins.

I think with the current attitude on this board that Mourning Joe might be more appropriate.

Don't look now, but Dalton might be the starter in Carolina in a couple weeks. Bryce Young is looking like a massive bust.

Really goes back to two decisions...
2012: Bengals lose in the first round yet again, Marvin hits 10 years without a playoff win, we have a quite talented roster. We continue to stick with Marvin Lewis while KC goes and gets a proven HC in Andy Reid.
2016:
Dalton: 64.7%, 18 TD/8 INT, 7.5 AVG, 91.8 QB Rating, Pro Bowl .... went 6-9-1
A Smith: 57.1%, 15 TD/8 INT, 7.2 AVG, 91.2 QB Rating, Pro Bowl .... got a 1st round bye, lost in divisional round
When the 2017 draft rolls around the Bengals took John Ross 9th overall and stuck with Dalton, the Chiefs traded up and took Patrick Mahomes 10th overall to succeed A Smith (who had a great 2017 and they still moved on from him).
