We're making the playoffs
Phil the new Denny Ninja
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Where are these wins coming from?

This isn't 2022 "they have to play us"

It's 2024 "they get to play us".

We are the easy win on everyone's schedule.

Even Carolina and they fans are feeling boosted and confident headed into the game. Let that sink in. Maybe we can catch them overlooking the Bengals in their new found push to the playoffs.

Here are the teams the Bengals have on their remaining schedule that are also under .500:
BAL (x2)
CLE (x2)
CAR
NYJ  NYG
LV
DEN
TEN

I don't think the Steelers are as good as their 3-0 record, but I also don't think Bengals will sweep BAL and CLE.
So let's guess 4-2 against the division at best.

If the Bengals squeak in, I think it would be for the last WC spot and come down to tiebreakers.
I also don't trust that 9 wins gets into the playoffs, as 10-7 was the last WC last year, so the Bengals need to not only get wins against the teams they *should* beat but also get an extra win or two against a team who is currently holding a winning record (lookin at LAC or PIT primarily).

My hot takes:

- BAL sweeps us since they can run all over the Bengals defense.
- CLE has our number and wins at least 1 game against us.
- CAR - W for the Bengals.
- NYJ - Aaron Rodgers is too talented to not feast on the Bengals defensive problems.
- LV - W for the Bengals.
- DEN - W for the Bengals.
- TEN - Seems fitting Callahan bests Zac.

Bengals go 4 - 5 in these games.

I don't think we're done, but I wouldn't be anywhere near saying 'we're making the playoffs'!

Hopefully from this point, we'll have Chase and Tee more involved and picking up pace as the season goes. Offensively we should be very good, and good enough to overcome our defence.

I think the problem is the division. We don't have a tough schedule, though part of that is two losses to poor teams that we've already got. We'll need to go at least 10-4, and we still have 6 AFCN games.

I personally don't see us sweeping the Ravens. 1-1 at best in my opinion.

We always struggle with Cleveland. Promisingly, Watson looks awful so far, so maybe we'll get more of a chance here than we've had recently. I'd still say 1-1 is the most likely outcome.

The Steelers are not that great, but they clearly have a good defence and seem back to their traditional mould of winning close games. Maybe another 1-1 split.

So there's 3 of the losses.... meaning we'd need 7-1 in the other 8 games. It's not impossible if we get on a roll, but my concern is that even a Bengals team playing very well struggles with the AFCN, and we're bound to take a couple of L's in the division. We'll see.

The next 5 weeks are kinda critical with the trade deadline approaching. Panthers, Ravens, Giants, Browns, and Eagles.

The Bengals need to get to .500 during that stretch which means going 4-1. 3-2 would probabaly be the worst possible outcome it makes any kinda trade a "maybe" because they will be 3-5 so they will need that Raiders game to decide week 9. (Deadline is the following Tuesday after the Raiders game.)

I can see (some of) those happening, although I meant NYG, not NYJ. Bengals can beat the Giants more likely than the Jets.
Bengals have also in recent years played very well against the NFC, so they might walk away with wins against DAL and/or PHI.

In our most recent Super Bowl year, we were a mere 7-6 at one point.

To get to 7-6 though, Bengals would need to go 7-3 from this point.
The following opponents to try to get to that:
- CLE
- BALx2
- PIT
- CAR
- PHI
- LV
- NYG
- LAC
- DAL

That's a tough schedule to only come out with 3 losses, personally.

Even finishing second in our division may not be enough, and it's not like anyone in our division we consistently beat up on, even when they are "bad." Math is clearly on your side. No doubt about it. Reality is they have not shown they can win.

I think we win a few to "so there's a chance" arguments going, loss more, just to have the dead cat bounce in the end.

No doubt we will win a few games by season's end. No argument that we have, even with better Bengals teams, struggled against our division rivals.

It's just I had funny feeling - a tingle, if you will - this offseason that this was the year we win it all and I'm having that tingle again about us making the playoffs. Granted, maybe it's just gas, but still ...

And, honestly, I think starting out 0-3 is only going to make it that much sweeter when we win the Super Bowl. Like talk about a Cinderella season. ThumbsUp

I think we'll see an inspired defense eager to rid themselves of the embarrassment of their showing against Washington This Sunday. Due to injuries, it still won't be great, but good enough to win.

I mean if they just tackled once in the last game, Bengals win. I hope they know what Andy is going to try and do...

Lol I remember we were down 21 in the late 3rd or 4th and you and I were talking in gameday about how it was over, they weren't playing well anyway, but you were saying we're not out of it. Statistically, we were both right. You just side on the lower % chance lol Big Grin

Starting hot helps but it doesn't mean much, that other year Eagles went on a huge slide after winning X straight to start the season. The offense is clicking, especially if we keep using TEs, it's going to be tough for them to stop us - the defense just needs to be average at best. I wish we did in season trades, I think we get anyone on that DL that can run tackle up the middle, that will be barely good enough.

Our offense is too good for us to be a bad team. Yes, as it currently stands, our defense is arguably the worst in the league, but we're still a team that can outscore other teams' bad offenses.
