And pretty much we've sucked all season besides a couple little runs here and there. I really thought we wouldn't stink on offense as bad as we have.

I dunno? I still believe we have a base to build on. But is ownership going to go out and complete the puzzle?

I'm not as optimistic with ownership leading the way and Bell as the manager. The young guys aren't all panning out and the injuries concern me.

There is young talent on this team though that is fun to watch.

Not sure Greene coming back and throwing 45 pitches was worth risking reinjury when the season is already over and only like a week left.

Non-winning season locked now, sadly.

He was only 6 2/3 innings away from qualifying for the MLB stat line. I'm pretty sure that Hunter wants this. He's got three innings out of the way, only needs 3 2/3 more to qualify now. I see four innings coming in Wrigley and then he'll be the full season league leader in fewest hits per nine innings.

Today officially ends the 2024 season for the Reds. I would like to see a win against the Cubs. Thanks to the team and this board. 2025 could be a playoff year.

I just hope that next year they learn how to stop hitting ground balls to the 3rd baseman when there is a runner on 3rd with one or no outs. They just did it again in the top of the 4th. Still scoreless going to the bottom of the 4th. Hunter needs two more outs to qualify with for the full season totals.

Reds end up 7th in odds for the draft lottery which will take place in December to determine ultimate draft order.  The A's and White Sox are ineligible to pick inside the top 10.

I heard that coachFreddie Benavides, finally called out the Reds deficiencies. Lack of offense, hitting with runners in base, execution, base running, fielding, strikeouts etc.

Which we all knew all year long. Now let’s see how the Reds address these concerns.

Idea for the top teams that are forced to tale a bye week
Two meaningless games each, mainly intended to keep their abilities sharp and focused.
Neutral site.
Winners will get home field advantage if these particular teams wind up facing each other in the World Series. If one of the teams in the Wild Card round gets in the World Series, then revert back to the default "All-Star Game Winner" as the home field advantage.

Wednesday
LA Dodgers vs NY Yankees
Philadelphia vs Cleveland

Thursday
LA vs Cleveland
Philadelphia vs NY

I'd also like to see the pretty much meaningless Ohio cup brought to either five games or only three. I hate the four game set-up where the cup stays with a team if they won the last series but if they can keep going 2-2 for the next 10 years, it's their Cup for a decade. I love soccer, but ties don't belong in baseball.

I hope the young Reds pitchers are watching Mets @ Braves.

Schwellenbach through 4 innings had thrown 10 balls out of the strikezone.
45 pitches
35 strikes - none by swinging at pitches out of the zone.

Like Nick Martinez when he threw 23 out of 24 first pitch strikes. That's how you go long in games as long as you're not serving them up on a platter.

Or... hear me out: Throw as hard as you can 85 times, finish 4.2 innings, call it a day.

I remember watching a video on pitching, like mid 90's maybe? And this ML pitching coach was talking to a small group of aspiring young ML hopefuls. He started out with words to the effect of " ok fellas, what's the most important pitch in baseball? " The answers he got where fastball, offspeed, so on and he came back, "strike one".

Point is I've always though that lately the Reds staff tries to nibble to much ! Trying to rely on guys swinging at stuff well out of the strike zone. And of course they end up putting themselves in bad situations way more than they should be. Throwing way more pitches than they should and so on.

Hopefully the new staff will stop teaching and/or letting them rely on stuff out of the zone.
