Cocky Rats

Cliff notes ….

They are overwhelmingly expecting a win - mostly based on our D being trash.

Only one they seem to fear on the entire Bengals team is Hendrickson

Lamar > Burrow and they don’t understand all the hype about JB

Logan Wilson is a dirty player.

We're 4-7 versus them in the Zac era, and they've won the last two. Every other post here is about how atrocious our defense is and how Lamar and Henry will each run for 150 against us, with most of the remaining posts being about how inept our coaching staff is. Are we really that shocked that they're confident? Were the situation reversed we would be too. Fortunately, the confidence of a message board of internet randos means diddey-squat to the game's outcome. And that's why they play the game.

I'm not giving them the time of day, but I gotta admit... I can't disagree with their assessment.

Agreed! Just thought it was annoying. Even when we are playing great, we still lack that kind of confidence playing a legit rival. Cocky bastards. Lol

Yeah, it's like how you can speak negatively about your family but you're pissed when you hear a non-relative do it.  How dare they? LOL

I don't blame them.... I'm sure we'd be high on our horse as well.

Imagine having two of the leagues most dangerous rushing weapons vs our piss poor run D?  We'd be saying the same thing.

It's up to the Bengals and Lou to figure this crap out fast... so we aren't staring down the barrel at 1-4

Well, this defense is trash...dont have to leave these boards to hear that

Jackson is their QB of course they think hes better. We think Burrow is better here. Biggest difference is we are right on this subject.

Wilson is hardly a dirty player..they are a dirty team

They look like one of the better teams in AFC this year. And, the Bengals Defense has been trash most of the year thus far. With that said, I expect the Bengals to bring it and it will be a close game.

You don’t have to go back very far to see a similar comp; week one of this year. Everyone thought the Bengals would cruise to an easy W against the Pats, both fan bases included. But we all saw what happened. Sounds cliche but it’s true, there are no gimmes in the NFL and this is exactly the type of game in which I can see the Bengals stealing a W.

The fact that your example illustrates this team being heavily favored and failing, instead of some other random team, hardly instils one with confidence for our chances.  But, there are no guarantees in life, or the NFL for that matter, so you're right.  It could happen.   Here's hoping.

Ravens fans are entitled to some confidence after last week.

Realistically, you throw everything out when it's a division game.

All I will say for the Bengals is what I've already said. By Halloween, this will look like the best offense in the league. I still don't think they've really gotten into the playbook, and they most definitely have not utilized all the weapons stashed on the roster. That changes a little every week, but the final form is not yet here.

Also, overconfidence is a *****. We've been overconfident about our chances twice this year to disastrous outcomes. If the Bengals can score quick and force more Lamar passing and less Henry and Lamar running, then it's in our favor. The new d-linemen are also a much needed boost.

This game is as huge of an early season game as you'll see.

Hopefully, the DLine getting healthy just in time works wonders and the defense surprises us.

Rivalry games are also very unpredictable. Plus, you know, any given Sunday....

...But yea, I think we're likely going to lose haha.

Ravens fans "not understanding what the hype around Burrow is" are just stupid though. You don't have to denigrate elite players just to justify your confidence in your team.

I'd rather have Burrow, but one of them is a two time MVP and the other is oft injured. I can see their point of view.

Yeah they aren't saying much different to what I think, other than Lamar > JB. Be interesting to see what the other 30 teams would say if given the choice of the two, but I personally think Burrow is the better QB and more commonly gets it done.

Unfortunately think our atrocious defence will be the difference today, but I hope I'm wrong.

Another thing is that I always understood the sort of "what ifs" of QBs who didn't make it to your team for one reason or another, but not for guys you never had a chance to draft.

We could have taken Jackson, as could have anyone else but we didn't.  We could have taken Mahommes.  Damn near everyone could have taken Aaron Rodgers.  The Browns could have taken hometown hero Ben Rothelisberger but they let him fall to the Steelers (and the Steelers could have had Dan Marino in 1983).  Everyone could have had Tom Brady over and over again...those are the lament-worthy takes.

Burrow was a #1 overall pick and only 1 NFL team had the chance to draft him, no one else, so there isn't any more reason for the Ravens to lament not having him than Peyton Manning.  We can compare them and I can get the "gee it'd be nice if we had him" but it's less of a legimately discussion when you never had the chance to take him.  I'm 42 years old and I can somewhat lament not investing in Netflix in 2001, but I can't lament not being in the Beatles with the same legitimate vigor.

Anyways on topic, they just destroyed the Bills and we just beat Andy Dalton and the Panthers so I can see why they'd be flying higher than us.
