I feel like this is the time for players to start jumping ship. How long before we have another Palmer situation.
Trade talks?

Tee should be gone ASAP. They should listen to offers on Trey, which will piss people off, but my guess is there is 0 chance he plays on 18 million next year and I’m not sure the team will pay a soon to be 31 year old pass rusher top of the market money. Again, I know that makes a bad unit worse but this unit won’t be good while Trey is relevant this is a 2-3 year rebuild on D. I’d legit listen to offers on our linebackers while we are at it just because again I think this defensive rebuild will take a few years.

Clean house. Start with all coaches.

I'm not against signing both young receivers and trading Trey Hendrickson. At least make a move for the future at 1-4 with a franchise QB....

I've been wrong before but if we do anything other than play out this year and then just watch another team sign Tee as a FA I'll be amazed.
We'd get a comp pick, no? That's like, our thing.

For comparison, on the trade chart.... -The 2025 16th pick of the 3rd round (80th overall) is valued at 190. -Meanwhile even if we got the 33rd pick of the 3rd round (97th overall) as the highest possible comp pick in 2026, that's worth roughly 39 in 2025 value. (A pick a year later is generally valued at 1 round later than if it were now.) So even a middle-of-the-road 3rd rounder in 2025 is worth nearly 5x as much as the best possible comp pick in 2026. ____________________________________________________________

BJ Hill, Mike Hilton, and Sheldon Rankins all should be trade bait. I'm not sure what you can get for them but it's better than waiting two years for their comp picks to turn out.
As for Tee; I'm not sold that the FO won't keep him longterm over Chase. You're going to get a shit ton for Chase in a trade.

Most teams don't give a GM another 25+ years after a debacle of the Akili smith caliber. If our front office isn't again taking the phones off the hook and shining up their skis at the trade deadline, I'll eat my hat.

Why are the Bengals always in rebuild mode decade after decade while other teams celebrate Super Bowls?

Trading Higgins or other players would be waiving a Flag of surrender. None of the players, coaching staff, or FO will do that to the fans. I know it is a bitter pill to be 1-4 when the team could have been 5-0. It is not like they are getting blown out and the defense is playing God awful. Maybe they should but there is no way the team trades the blue chip players.
The team chemistry is off and has been off. I know the offense has been clicking but the mojo is off for the team. Not a good vibe. -Paul Brown “When you win, say nothing. When you lose, say less.” My album "Dragon" https://www.humbert-lardinois.com/

Trading starters is waiving a flag. Trade capital is limited. For older players, it may be prudent to make picks conditional on performance.
We'd all like to trade our worst players, but not everyone is lining up to give us a BJ Hill for a Billy Price. OTOH, we see teams like Houston and Philli turning trade picks into gold. If the Bengals really valued our draft picks, why aren't we getting more of them? My list of trade bait: Tee (there's no way he's coming back). Trey (he asked for a trade, teams are always looking for sacks) Dax Hill (one year left on rookie contract at a position we actually have depth) Lets not fool ourselves, free agency can't fix this; a big chunk of our free agency money is going to Chase. |
