Montreal is at home tomorrow against Chicago and Carolina Wednesday.
CBJ is at Philadelphia Tuesday and Home against the Islanders Thursday.
Montreal has to lose both games in regulation and CBJ win both to get in. I believe Montreal has the tiebreaker so a tie in points is no good.
It's going to be a wild finish to the season. I'd really enjoy seeing the young guys get playoff experience.

Chicago had a 3-2 lead with under 4 minutes left and they took a penalty which Montreal capitalized on a minute later to tie it and now going to OT. CBJ is eliminated officially.

Chicago won in a SO. CBJ must still be alive somehow because ESPN updated the standings and doesn’t have the “e” next to them.
So they are still alive because regulation wins is the first tiebreaker. Montreal has 29 CBJ has 28. CBJ must win both in regulation and Montreal must lose their last game in regulation for CBJ to get in.

CBJ wins 3-0!!! 10 days ago i made these 2 comments and somehow i'm a Montreal regulation loss and CBJ regulation win from eating some serious crow which i'll happily do. Greaves is the starting goalie next season. No matter how this ends up, next season his looking very special!

Reminiscent of the Bengals season, when we needed 12 things to happen and, sadly, only 11 of them did. Here's hoping they make history Thursday night.

Just as with the Bengals, a herculean effort falls just short.
When I started this thread I would never have imagined, given the off-season adversity and uncertainty that has swirled around this team for years, that they would do this well. l have nothing but admiration for the way this team has scrapped against all odds to even be anywhere neat the playoffs.
I hope they can win tonight and finish this season on a high note.

It's been a good thread. Happy to see some fellow NHL fans. The young guys are giving me hope. Maybe next season!

Looks like too little, too late for CBJ and my Red Wings (sorry, was a fan before Ohio got a team).
It's been 5 years since CBJ has made it to the playoffs, 9 for the Wings.
Sad times for most Ohio NHL hockey fans. If you weren't a fan of one of the two above, it's usually either Penguins, Blackhawks, or Preds.
None of which have won a playoff series since before COVID.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

I too was originally a Wings fan. I first started going to hockey games when Dayton got a minor league team in '91, though I first became fascinated with the game when watching the '80 Olympics as a kid. When looking for an NHL team to cheer for, the Wings were one of the closest teams, and since I hated Pittsburgh, choosing them was an easy choice. When they won it all in both '97 and '98, I had miniature Stanley Cups on my desk at work. When CBJ came along I jumped ship, but despite them being rivals to an extent, I still want the Wings to win unless they play CBJ.

Thanks, I enjoyed it too. It was an interesting season, if ultimately not satisfying from a playoff standpoint. I hope you'll join me in the playoff thread I started:

A 26-10-5 home record (hopefully) bodes well for next season. Lots of bright spots in this season.
