He was right when he called out zac Taylor and simple offensive scheme that he runs, as he stated there's not much from a pure scheme standpoint that defenses have to prepare for..
We keep saying every week where is the tight ends and why they almost never have an impact on the passing game??Ask yourself this question how long have we all been asking that same question??Where is the tight end seam routes??Where are the tight end digs or crosses ect??
Dan said and I quote there's absolutely nothing physical about the bengals offense is he wrong??when is the last time the bengals run game was able to carry the whole entire offense??Zac puts no creativity into the running game at all, almost the entire run game is ran from some variation of the shotgun why??
when is the last time you've seen burrow under center with 3 tight ends on the field??There's no excuse for this offense to consistently play the same game and lose the same way against the same kind of defenses every year..Defenses that play 2 high with a 4 man rush with a good Dline will always be his Achilles heel and it shouldn't be..
He needs to seriously diversify this playbook and it needs to happen asap this is getting old fast and this ownership should be looking at this very long and very hard because it's starting to be embarrassing..

Apparently, since we won the last 2 games, the offensive production doesnt matter. Zac's quip in answering the question about the offense not being as open and productive was brushed off way too quickly IMO.
Hopefully the offense gets back on track, but Zac's answer here flies in the face of what were told preseason and what we were watching prior to the Giants game. I do not trust this defense to keep other teams at/under 14 points every game.

I don't mind hammering ZT when warranted, but the offense was on a tear the 3 weeks prior. Was anyone banging a drum about the offensive struggles then?
I don't think ZT is an incompetent OC. I think he is an INCONSISTENT OC who lacks confidence in certain areas.

My position on Zac and offensive play calling is the same as it was previously. Zac should bring in an offensive coordinator that he trusts and turn the play calling over to him and just focus on the bigger picture of the team.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

We all have been screaming the same thing since he got here, he hates calling run plays, the offense lacks diversity and we're sick of not getting nothing from the tight end position in the passing game zac deserves a lot of criticism this offense should be performing better than it is currently...

Has Taylor turned into Marvin?!
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

I think Taylor has his strengths and weaknesses as an OC, much like many do.
Taylor has never been overly good with the run game or finding ways to incorporate the TE more/better in the passing game.
We've seen the offense flounder without Higgins to start the season. Teams just doubled/tripled Chase when that happened and the other dudes weren't getting open.
Once Higgins was back, the offense really started to come into itself (again).
Even against the Browns, Chase and Higgins had good games, but no one else from a receiving perspective was really a factor.
While this offense statistically has dropped down from Top 5 to Top 10 after last week, the defense has jumped up from Bottom-5 to 20th.
Part of that obviously has to do with playing a couple really bad teams, but still we've seen the defense look much better these last two weeks with the DL healthy compared to the first five weeks.
If the defense can keep playing like they have been and the offense can get back to what it was a few weeks ago, the Bengals could pull an incredible surprise and actually make the playoffs. It was only like, what, a 2% chance though for teams starting 1-4 historically? Big trend to buck.
These next few games will be crucial.

Offensive performances by week...
1st game BAD
2nd game GOOD
3rd game GOOD
4th game GOOD
5th game GOOD
6th game BAD
7th game BAD
This is inconsistent, but also kind of the nature of the NFL. The things that actually LOST the games were an inconsistent mixture of questionable coaching choices & player error on the field.
I mean, teams lose. Every year every team has losses. The reasons are typically talent, coaching, or both. Bengals have been bitten by both.
If they find consistency they will win. If you did this exact same thing with the Defense every game week would literally be flipped from GOOD to BAD or from BAD to GOOD.
We have yet to see the complete game.

Bengals need to put together complete games and FINISH them.
I hate seeing other team's defenses dictating what the Bengals are doing. It happens a lot. The Bengals play up or down to their competition, which creates a lot of closes games.
I think the Browns decided they could guard the Bengals 2 WRs 1 on 1 & wanted to take away the middle & run game. It worked for the most part. Offense only had 14 points.

That's what I mean though.
The great offenses like the Chiefs and old Patriots were able to adapt the playcalling throughout the game based on what the defense's strengths and weaknesses were and what they were doing.
Taylor seems to have one style of offense that he can run well and if teams find a way to counter it, they counter it.
Certain teams are better at countering it than others. Browns have typically been one. Steelers another.
It helps having elite pass rushers.

He said that prior to playing KC. Since he’s changed his tune. Imagine holding things back for the best team in the NFL?
Romo “ so impressed with Zac ...1 of the best in the NFL… they are just fundamentally sound. Taylor the best winning % in the Playoffs of current coaches. Joe Burrow” Zac is the best head coach in the NFL & that gives me a lot of confidence." Taylor led the Bengals to their first playoff win since 1990, ending the longest active drought in the four major North American sports, en and appeared in Super Bowl LVI, the first since 1988.

Tom Moore to Bill Callahan to Brian Callahan, with some shallow west coast concepts. That is our offense now.
Without writing a dissertation on the K-Gun and Colts offense of 2000s, our offense is built on execution rather than complexity, where Burrow is doing what Manning did in Indy.
Very similar concepts out of the shotgun with a handful of plays for different defensive formations, which Burrow adjusts pre snap. Defenses generally know what we are running, but stopping it depends on whether they can match up against Chase and Tee.
The difference is that we don't have the Addai/James and Dallas Clark type of talent and long-term familiarity/cohesiveness to execute the plays.

It basically relies on individual brilliance. And Chase has displayed that a lot. And sometimes Tee does.
But, take Tee out of that mix and the offense struggles.

I feel this is where ZT fails, a lot.
He gets entrenched in his gameplan and by gawd he's gonna run it. "It's a good game plan, I made it" And you have to be able to adapt on the fly. And like has been said he forgets about running the ball, or gives up to quick.

Well we start games slow too a lot. So the gameplan must not be that great.

Zac Taylors record the past 3 years would suggest Dan is wrong..
