I wanted to post this a few weeks ago when I watched film of Alex cappa getting put on his ass on a run play..That rep was pathetic by cappa then 3 plays later volston put an even worse rep on film getting blown away by a smaller linebacker smh we have got to better play from the interior or this offense will never be a balanced attack..
I have no more expectation for this team, this is what the fans are willing to accept so I'll just watch because I'm a fan but I will no longer be emotionally invested if they don't care than I no longer care either..Every time I'm critical of zac on these boards it always goes to at least he won a playoff game, marvin may not have won a playoff game but at least he was very competitive within the division and his teams was very good at home in the regular season;I think he had 2 undefeated seasons at home and 1 season with only 1 lost at home..

theyre also one of the worst run blocking units in the league. But Duke and Mike's philosophy with the interior is simply value. I dont think they want an interior stud that badly

I have said this a few times, I believe Pollack is overrated and Burrow stinks at playaction and RPO.. those two together make our running game not so great.. Look at what is Mixon is doing in Houston, Stroud actually had a good RPO and play action.. and Mixon is very well. fire Pollack and push Burrow to improve

yeah and that philosophy needs change ASAP because this is not working we get absolutely no push with these guys and it's killing the offense..

And let's be honest; even if we got that "stud" they'd find a way to f*ck it up to the point of no return. It's a lose-lose.

They’d let a 1st or 2nd round guard walk and then replace them with a 6th or 7th rounder. That’s how they operate

Interior offensive line, interior defensive line, pass rush at DE, CB1, WR2 and 3, both Safeties, and maybe TE.
That's our needs list.

So disappointed in Cappa he played good in his 1st season and has been terrible since. Feel like some of are inability to run has to be on the coaching staff and scheme as well. Is Zac really invested in making the run work and how drastically have we changed our approached or is it just keep doing the same thing ? Feel like the line has talent and size and we can never seem to gain a yard when we need too.

They’re terrible at run blocking; on the other hand they can’t pass block. Other than that, it’s been a hellava cruise.

It’s not the players; it’s the scheme and the coach. The players the Front Office brought in were nearly all best at trap and/or base blocking while Frank Pollock teaches zone blocking because it fits Zac Taylor’s scheme.

that whole situation was botched. 2 zone guys, and they then have to switch the blocking scheme because the linemen are too unathletic. This is once again, a failure from the front office

I'm done blaming the line.
There has been one common denominator for a long time now and it's Pollack.
I've been calling for him to be fired for 3 years running.

FTFY
The OL woes (especially running game) started long before Pollack.

Wtf; we haven't had a decent line since 2016 and they were not that good. The real problem starts with the FO and their inability to identify talent.

the Bengals need to invest in the most brilliant OL mind out there, either as a consultant or the actual OL coach.

Fun fact: Cappa really wasn't all that great before coming to the Bengals.
He's about the same dude he was when he was in TB, which was just ok.
Cappa had poor athleticism coming out of college, and it's seen sometimes when he's asked to operate outside of a phone booth.
Volson is also pretty much the same dude he's been his whole career in Cincy - up and down.
Now that Pollack is not only the OL coach but also the run game coordinator, there's no excuse why the run game has problems.
Before you could maybe say they were being asked to run plays that didn't suit the skill set of the guys they have, but Pollack has been a key factor in who they brought in and now also has a huge influence in the run blocking.
What I expect to happen - They'll bring in new talent as these current guys hit FA.
We'll potentially see a new C starting next year with Karras hitting FA.
Cappa and Volson will start next year, but they'll draft a dude in the upcoming draft to serve as primary backup for a year then take over for Cappa or Volson the following year.
If both Cappa and Volson depart in FA, Bengals will bring in a budget FA who will cost $10 mill APY or under to fill the other starting spot in 2026.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.
Sorry for Party Rocking!
