Moment of truth!
#1
The honest truth is that we have a bad football team,we suck at winning the los on both sides of the ball and here lately we've been getting outcoached way more than I would like to see..

Lou anarumo's defense is struggling in all areas, the unit can't cover and the unit has problems getting to the opposing qb if it's not Hendrickson, The organization has given him ctb (2nd round) d.j turner (2nd rd) dax Hill (1st rd)Jordan battle (3rd rd)myles Murphy (1st rd)Kris Jenkins jr (2nd rd)mckinnley jackson (3rd rd) and we look like a defense devoid of talent..

The offense is just as bad, every year we struggle to run the ball with efficiency against 7man boxes every freaking year since zac has been here..We can never beat teams with our running game,we truly need to change the philosophy on offense this off-season and make running the ball effectively a focal point and priority number 1..If we're not getting rid of zac then we should take away his authority over the offense simple and plain let pitcher design something that has consistency and identity..

Ownership must stop with all the bs they've been doing too, time to hire more scouts, time to get chase deal done, time to get higgins deal done, time to blow up the interior oline, and time to start holding coaches/players accountable..right now as it stands we're 0-4 at home smh this is absolutely unacceptable these are the folks that's putting food on the table and you guys can't win 1 game in front of them..Everybody in that locker room should be ashamed I think we may have to blow it up after the season..

Status quo. Keep grinding. Swing the axe. Drown the outside noise. X games left.

Nothing will change.

I love your enthusiasm and I agree with your analysis but sometimes we forget who runs this organization. The Bengals are in meltdown mode and the Front Office is a cement sarcophagus.

I hate to agree with you but I have to because this front office has never given us reason to have faith in them..

This team should legitimately have FIVE Super Bowl wins: 1988, 2005, 2015, 2021, and 2022.

I don't know that they'll view 8 or 9 wins as a failure. They'll view it as a few tweaks away from 11 wins.

I don't know if it's to hire more scouts, but try to find better ones at least.
There's either some poor evaluations happening, the coaches don't know how to properly coach up unrefined talent, and/or a disconnect with the guys they are bringing in with the scheme being ran.

No one on here would ever label me an optimist. Some (or most) might even label me a pessimist.
What I will say is this team is kinda in the middle.
They have moments of great play mixed with terrible play.
Some games the offense is great while the defense is horrendous.
Other games vice versa.

At this point, the team would very likely have to win 7+ games out of 9 to make the playoffs.
To be able to pull that out after going 3-5 would be honestly spectacular.
I'm not sure what light bulb could go off that could magically turn them into a true Super Bowl contender this year though, even if they make the playoffs.

Unfortunately, this might be a(nother) washed season.
We'll see over the next few weeks I guess.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Agree. And with Burrows contract, and budgeting for Chase...that takes 3-5 quality free agents off the roster. So you have to scout and find more contributors through the draft and free agency.

Signing guys like Nick Scott and Stone waste money.

The front office could've done things to make this season more of a all in season..could've signed higgins long term, let's say 4yrs 100m 45 guaranteed 28m signing bonus..higgins base rate would've been 6m this season freeing up 19m in cap space we could've signed a few impact players on defense with that kind of cap space..I hate the way this franchise does business we never go all in and that's the biggest reason we'll never get where we want to be..

I suspect the issue with Higgins and Chase is signing bonus...which you have to pay up front. The Bengals don't like writing that big check.

With all the revenue sharing and salary cap stuff to equalize, the Bengals will always be behind in some ways.

Higgins is just hurt so much too. As he ages, that may not play out well.

It's a tough situation.

The best outcome might be to trade him to like the 49ers or Bucs.

Higgins is making 21m this year on the tag if we gave him 4yrs 100m 28m in signing bonus his cap hit this season would've been around 6m could've freed up 19m in cap space to fix the team not understanding why they didn't do this..

I agree with you.

A couple things.

The FO is immune to embarrassment.

The FO doesn't care in general.  The stadium is full, merchandise is selling and lots of revenue sharing.  The Brown family is filthy rich and that's all that matters.

Nothing will change.  The coaches will still be here.  Tee will not be signed.  We will lose more talent only to be replaced by 2nd tier draft picks and cheap FA's.  The Brown family will be laughing all the way to the bank.  The 90's are back.  There is NO way to fix this this quickly nor does the FO care.  Get ready for at least a few more years of 90's Bengals.

They don't view 3 wins as a failure.  The millions keep rollin' in = winning.

We got to the Super Bowl and the AFC championship game in consecutive years on the backs of Joe Burrow's, Tee Higgins' and Ja'Marr Chase's rookie contracts. Each of these players were drafted due to having really good draft position. Position that we have not had since.

We also made a few really good investments on defense that propped up the entire squad. Jessie Bates at safety, DJ Reader at NT and Trey Hendrickson each are "worth" two players. Jessie Bates covered up deficiencies in the secondary. Reader allowed Lou to go light in the box and still effectively stop the run as if he hadn't, and Hendrickson created enough pressure to make up for Hubbard's ineffectiveness against the pass.

All but one of those three players is gone now. And the one that is still here has already requested a trade once. The odds that we give him his market value is low, so he may force his way out this coming off season.

And we no longer have the benefit of rookie contracts for our offensive stars.

We can no longer coast on having more talent than our opposition.

We wasted the window. Now we are nearing a complete rebuild with Joe and Ja'Marr being the only key pieces that will be locked down.

Given our recent draft history, that does not bode well for the long term prospects of this team.

When you have an elite WR and an elite QB, you can cover up a lot of deficiencies on the team. But you can't cover up 20.

Pretty much. Factoring in age Mims is probably the only other core piece you build around.

All those 1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks they used on guys like Murphy, Dax, Turner, CTB, Ossai, Carman, Carter, etc without much to show for it.
