CAPTAIN OBVIOUS HERE BUT NONE THE LESS
#1
Its no secret we have zero pass rush outside of Trey. Does anyone else find themselves screaming at the tv wondering why we consistently drop into coverage and never blitz opposing qb's. This is common sense football but these idiots continue to do the same thing week in and week out. When your secondary is mediocre and your pass rush is non existent its creating a nightmare scenario for coverages. Makes me puke at the lack of blitzing we do and I dont wanna hear how spying Hurts and Jackson and those guys is the way to go BS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heat them up and force mistakes

If only we drafted a first-round defensive end that panned out in his 2nd season.

I'm calliing it early. My early reads on Murphy were correct.

He's bootyberries.

Murphy runs like he's wearing cement shoes.

I wish they’d let Hilton blitz more.

As poor as our Safeties and Boundary Corners are in coverage, it's the least they could do to at least shorten the time at which they have to keep covering.

I can't be the only one that saw that man bite on a read opition harder than Largemouth in the Springtime on one of Jalen Hurtz's touchdowns yesterday.

I have no idea where to begin. This team drafts are exceptional examples of abject incompetence & tomfoolery.

The sobering reality is nothing we do at this point will work. We blitzed Lamar a ton and he killed us when we blitzed Jayden Daniels he killed us as well. Hurts is very mobile I’m sure it would be more of the same. Plus the secondary is awful we can’t cover anyone. The Eagles converted a 3rd and 16 somehow AJ Brown was wide open.

It's a double-edged sword. You blitz and the good QB's have the hot read and can pick you apart.

Not sure we really have LB's that can blitz successfully, so they likely won't generate pressure. Then, you give up big plays.

Not blitzing results in trouble too.

Murphy, Jenkins, Ossai all appear subpar. Carter was a 3rd Round pick 3 years ago and is already gone.

When you don't have the talent, only so much you can do.

They spend a pair of high draft picks on Michigan coverage players, without even noticing that Michigan's DL is what enabled those coverage players to look good in the first place. It's easy to look like a solid cover man, when defending passes from QBs throwing off of their back foot or running for their life..

Yep. Our secondary doesn't have a #1 caliber CB. CTB is probably a 2 or 3.

Bell needs a ballhawk beside him like Bates. Stone, needs a loaded defense to look good.

Bad D-Line and Bad Secondary = Hard to win.

It was a bad look for Murphy for sure but the Eagles IOL/Saquan Barkley eating up chunk run plays up the middle will cause the ends to crash in situations like that. Just bad DL play all around.

I think jenkins has a decent future

Ossai and Murphy are killing this d-line. Poor drafting or poor development from coaching. Either way, its those kinds of busts that kill teams. A Jake Fisher and Ogbuehi situation

Yes! I feel like they do that a ton. They draft guys from big programs that are successful, but they're successful because the team is loaded with talent.

Like Carman. Yet, I read scouting reports and they basically accurately predict issues.

Look at Ogbuehi's scouting report:

'Based on his traits and his position, he will likely get drafted on projection over production.'

'Functional power and anchor are legitimate concerns. Technique flaws make pass protection harder than it has to be. Football leverage isn't as good as expected. Doesn't play with enough bend at impact. His punch in pass pro can be woefully mistimed and he plays with wide hands and some wasted motion in setup. Base tends to narrow when pass rush gets to his high side. Not a powerful tackle and won't generate much push as in-line blocker. Was one of the SEC leaders in sacks allowed in 2014.'

Agree , it’s a mess big picture. Bell is gone after this year Stone one year left and not the answer. Then CTB contact is coming up ,do you pay him and how much. Hill coming of an ACL plus 5th year option decision, and I believe Hilton is a FA next year? This isn’t even including the mess up front.

Hubbard getting abused by a TE should be a sign to the FO that he's done and needs to be replaced. They won't because he's a Local kid and still under contract, so he's going nowhere. 3rd and 16 and we rush 3 and Brown is wide open to convert the 1st. When i saw only 3 rushing i told the Wife "Lou just gave the Eagles a first down", sure enough i was right and i went out and cut the grass. I'm in my 1990's mode and i'm done wasting my Sunday's on this garbage!

We held the Eagles who were relatively healthy and a top 10 offense to 3 points in the first half more than likely if Zac doesn't try a 54 yd FG and give the eagles ball on own 44. That would have been 10 straight quarters of good football by the defense.

Also Murphy is playing a limited number of snaps he should be coming in fresh with energy and he gives you nothing. Imagine him eventually starting for Hubbard and playing tired could he play even worse lol.

Somewhere Lou Anarumo is seeing the players still getting blamed for him having a below average defense for the 5th time in his 6 years of being a DC and laughing his ass off.

2023: "Oh, it's not my fault, we just need two different safeties who can communicate."
2024: *Gets two new safeties, still have guys constantly wide open uncovered.* "Oh it's not my fault, we just need 4 Pro Bowl DL."

Maybe, just maybe, there was a reason he was 52-53 years old when he finally got his first shot at being an actual NFL DC and had been a career-long DB Coach before then.
