Bengals Win Out + Broncos & Colts go 2-3, Dolphins go 3-2 & WE'RE IN!!!

In 2013 the Chiefs were in a similar situation against the Chargers in the last week of the season.  The Chiefs were locked into a playoff spot and the Chargers had to win to make the playoffs.  The Chiefs sat almost all of their starters and came within a missed 41 yard field goal at the end of regulation of winning the game.  The Chargers won in overtime.

I read elsewhere Reid is 2-2 in such situations with KC over the years. Nothing to play for seeding-wise, resting guys. And one of the losses was damn near a win.

The hope here is Wentz balls out playing for a contract, Brown plays a lot trying to get up to speed, and their D bottles up Denver's O pretty well even with mostly reserves. They crushed Pitt w/out Jones. Maybe Nix gets a little tight, especially if KC grab a lead early.

Not what I want, but that is what my realistic self thinks.

Yeah, I am preparing myself for the Broncos beating the Chiefs in a close one while we win and the Jets win. Something like this.

Cannot expect good things to happen and go our way. Just the life of a Bengals fan lol

If that happens it will be disappointing, but it will be much more palatable if we can beat the Stealers.  Playoffs or no, I want a win to get us to 9-8 for our fourth consecutive winning season, something last accomplished during the 2012-2015 period.

That's what I am thinking also.

It's their own fault.  Can't start out 1-4 and 4-8 and expect playoffs.  Somethings gotta change.

It very well could be one single game that made all the difference in the end.  Like the Pats game.  Ugh.

Last year they won against the 5-12 Chargers who had Easton Stick (real person, I swear I didn't just make a name up) starting at QB with an interim HC.

The other W is 2017... when Patrick Mahomes WAS the backup QB so the Chiefs still had Patrick Mahomes starting, and the other team's QB was Paxton Lynch on a 5-11 team.

So I think just saying 2-2 is pretty misleading when it comes to them playing a potential 10-win team with their starting QB and Wentz is certainly not Mahomes sitting on the bench.

If only the ball would have bounced our way in one of those 1 score games.

If the defense literally would have made 1 more stop, none of this would matter.

Hobspin will run with the 5 game streak to end the season all offseason and we’ll hang our hats on that.

Well this Denver team just lost to the Bengals, so I have them firmly in the "ain't shit" category. I don't think it's gonna be an easy win for either team. I just don't think it's a given Denver wins because Mahomes and others sit.

Look it has always been low odds and we knew it was; and so does the team. Doesn't mean you just throw your hands up and wilt - you give it your all and win or lose at least you leave it all out on the field.

Bengals have better record against the Chiefs (inc playoffs) than the Bills do in recent years.

We’re not the same team as 2-3 years ago. Common sense says yes, they’d rather face us than the bills.

If one is not aware of Easton Stick, then you just don't know football lol Wink

Yeah, just beat the stealers and I am happy.

True, cannot start out seasons in a hole. Zac better learn from this...

I mean hey, Marvin Lewis clearly learned from his first 0-6 in the playoffs and fixed it on the 7th try, so I am sure that Zac too will change from being what he's been for 6 straight years and magically fix it on the 7th time.

I getcha TLL. Hey, I would move on and get a new HC myself but that isn't happening. All we can do is hope for new coaches around
him besides Pitcher and for Zac to learn and get this team ready going into a season for once. New Defensive coaches, new OL coach
and this team could turn this around yah never know.

And anything less than making the AFCCG was going to be considered a disappointment by many.
Going 9-8 and sneaking into the playoffs only to get beat by BUF or KC isn't any better than barely missing the playoffs, at least to me.

Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Excellent post.

Good info on those Chiefs wins. Less impressive.

But the came within a missedxFG late in one of the losses.

This coming storm has only been news all week. One would think that they would have arranged to travel a day early.

Yeah, I have no problems with getting to the playoffs, but would hate to get bounced out round one, considering the best we got was the #7 welfare spot ( that didn't exist pre-Covid ).
