Bengals vs Browns Before Christmas Prediction Thread
#21
A lot will depend on whether Lou can just simplify and use a fundamentally sound system the players can execute. If yes this is a win. If not then against a QB they have little tape on...

Well at that point things do start to get interesting.  Come Friday morning it will either be Mardi Gras or the thud of reality around here.  Here's hoping the fantasy lives to see at least another week.

Friday morning?
The game is on Sunday.

It won't matter if Denver wins on Thursday night.

We are still technically alive even so  but the Chargers would have to lose their last two.

Yeah, it would be tough given they play at the Pats and at the Raiders.  But, there's something to be said for a division rival getting a chance to end your season.  I'm sure the Raiders would love to do that to the Chargers.  Fingers crossed.

Deja Vu brain hurt. I saw similar posts (in another forum) from Ohio State fans who casually wrote, "I see no reason for the Buckeyes to lose to the Wolverines."

Well, guess what?

Anyway, as the old adage says, "That's the reason they play the game."

With this Bengal team I wouldn't count the Browns out. At -7.5 I might have take a trip to my casino.

Winston is officially benched. He is mistake prone, but also can get hot.

What's the word on Garrett, the big flopper?

Here is where I disagree.   Play-offs or Not,  Why NOT Cincinnati beating Cleveland ?  To those that say draft position, you are too much into the draft, and not enough into the season and AFC North Rival Games.   The Bengals have a chance to beat Cleveland, something Bengals and Burrow haven't done very much.   For Pride, they should want to beat Cleveland.  Also beat Denver and AFC North Rival Pittsburgh to finish with with a Winning Record and some Wins against the AFC North Rivals.  Football People know this even if people only into draft day do not.  THIS is a Rival Game Week, and players and coaches not UP for Rival Games have no business on the team.  The draft is in April, but The Rival Game is NOW, so WIN IT, because THAT is Football.  If the Steelers were 6-8, they would be trying to beat AFC North teams.  If the Bengals can't have that same fire, then they have no business in the NFL.

Play-offs or Not......Beat Cleveland.

Yeah, I think I'd rather see him than DTR.  Didn't the latter slice through our D in the waning minutes to make it a much closer score last time?

Fantasy still lives at least for this week.

Must beat the Stains. Must beat the Stains.
Not sure how I feel about facing DTR/Ford instead of Winston/Chubb, but:

Must beat the Stains.

FWIW, as frustrating and ugly as this season has been most of the time,, it's still very nice to have meaningful games here at the end of it all.

Here's to hoping the meaningful games remain through week 18!!

Winston has a higher upside but DTR is mobile which gives the Bengals fits.

Garrett will slaughter this Oline especially w/o OBJ

We still (albeit barely) have something to play for (as does Chase) and JB will keep them inspired.

23-20 Bengals

Bengals - 27
Browns - 23

Tough game that the Browns don't want to lose. If Garrett plays anyways. If he doesn't we could win by a much larger margin.

Watch out for the RB that used to be on the Bearcats. Dude is good, Chubb isn't himself after that knee injury.

I like DTR much more than Winston at QB, if DTR starts which I am predicting it will be close.

If Winston plays, we could also win by a much larger margin. Either way, I see a Bengals win here.

Whatever level of optimism I have had will stick around for this week.

Bengals 24
Browns 14

But since I won't be on these boards next week due to holidays, my prediction for CIN-DEN:
Broncos 31
Bengals 27
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. If he can turn this into a playoff appearance, it will be impressive.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

We're gonna get killed. Backup QB, Backup RB, Browns are at their worst. Yep, we're gonna get killed. We're going to lose by 17.
