Wins vs Losses
#1
Teams we won/lost to and Current Record:

Losses
NE: 3-12
Pitt: 10-5
Bal: 10-5 (Twice)
KC: 14-1
LAC: 9-6
Phil: 12-3
Wash: 10-5
LAR: 9-6

Wins
Cle: 3-12 (Twice)
Tenn: 3-12
LV: 3-12
Dallas: 7-8
NYG: 2-13
Car: 4-11

See a pattern? Aside from Dallas with 7 wins, our other victories came against teams with 4 wins or less.

The Patriots loss looks much worse now than it did then...and it was bad then.

While our offense is elite, I doubt that playoff teams fear playing us. They generally have a good pass rush and a great offense. We don't match up well vs that.

That’s my point also, we beat no one with a decent QB. Cooper Rush was probably the best of the worst bunch.
If they want to prove something, then win the last  2 games against playoff bounds teams, otherwise shut up and take your medicine.
This defense is a mess with 1 pass rusher, and nothing else. They can’t stop anyone unless they get a turnover before the other team scores. That is the only way they can stop decent teams with average QB’s.

Yep.  The Bengals have the worst strength of victory(SOV) in the entire NFL.

While this is not cherry picking, it does not really tell the story when it comes to chances of winning in the playoffs if we get there. Our losses to teams with winning records....
NE- Lost by 6
Chiefs- Lost by 1
Commanders- Lost by 5
Ravens- Lost by 3
Eagles- Lost by 20
Ravens- Lost by 1
Chargers- Lost by 7
Steelers- Lost by 6
The only team that beat our team by more than a touchdown is Philly. This team took the Chiefs and the Ravens to one-point games. And, this was with a defense that was playing way worse than it is over the last couple of weeks. Burrow is on fire, as is Chase. The Ravens beat us twice but by a combined 4 points. I don't think ANY team right now wants us to make the playoffs. Taylor's team has a habit of starting slow, but it has a habit of winning playoff games.

It absolutely tells the story. The story is that good teams find ways to win those close games. It's the NFL, where a majority of games are close.

Ok, have it your way, we have no shot to beat teams that beat us by one or two points earlier in the season

Thank you. As fun and exciting as our passing offense is to watch, this team still cannot convert short yardage on the ground and cannot stop other teams from rushing the ball.

YES

I despise the we only lost by X number of points excuse!! Whether it's one game, 5, the wholes season, whatever?

Fact is a giant percentage of NFL games, every season, good teams or bad, the margin of victory is small. You don't see many 49-3 NFL games in any given season.

The Patriots or Giant or whoever you want to name this season (bad teams) have had chances to win a couple or more games this season. That doesn't make them good or close or about to turn the corner.

The good/great teams find a way to win. The mediocre (Bengals) and bad teams find a way to lose, the end/

Right

We have an awesome QB, two great WR's, a pretty good RB, and an excellent DE, and that's it!! We are not a team that's close/ a player or two away or however you want to put it.

In the dictionary beside one trick pony is a Bengals team photo. We do one thing better than anybody in the league. And we suck at the other 6 things. Or are very average to put it mildly.

We need a ton of fixing to be a true week in and week out contender. Hard pill to swallow I know. But it's true.

I disagree, I think there are plenty of playoff teams that would fear playing the Bengals in the playoffs should they do the impossible and squeak in.

harping on the pats loss is such hindsight garbage. This team always loses in the beginning of the season

the team is bad even if they beat the patriots. This is a bad football team. This team should have 10 wins right now with how productive the offense is

They would be playing at the Ravens, not sure that Baltimore would be nervous about playing the Bengals for a 3rd time.

We've had multiple games in total control and lost. The 2nd Ravens game comes to mind.

The Brown fumble broke the team in that game.

Ravens not as much because they know us, but hear me out.

If Bengals win these games against good teams, that means the defense is playing better and the team is playing its best ball of the season with one of the very few elite QBs in the league. No one wants to face a team like that in the playoffs, especially one with experience in winning on the road in the playoffs.

Yep. Baltimore has pretty much owned the Bengals under Taylor. As have the Steelers.

Our offense is elite. But, our defense can be attacked at all 3 levels.

The Browns 1st drive, they showed how we could be ran on. Until they fumbled. Then they broke and gave up.

I'm not sure the Steelers are a good team right now. They have a good record, but they're not playing good.

I think teams realize how terrible our defense is. They know our offense is good. They know you have to put pressure on Burrow.

But, they know our defense has multiple spots that can be attacked.

That's absolutely amazing. I don't think anyone has ever brought up that we've only beat bad teams.

Steelers are a good team but yeah, they don't have the look of a great team by any means. I doubt they win a playoff game, maybe one at most but only if Pickens plays tho.

And yeah, our defense has been a toilet fire this season, but if they are playing better enough to force some punts with a turnover or two in a playoff game, no one wants to face Burrow and this offense right now imo.
