I was all for Christian Wilkins last year but that player doesn't exist in this FA class. Tee Higgins is pretty much the consensus #1 player in Free Agency.... It is not a good rebuild year lol.
People only seem to care about landing the top FA when he comes from another team I suppose.

That’s why I’m back dreaming of a tag and trade. Free up money for a 20m dollar guard if you can’t find multiple gems like 2020/21.
Use the extra picks on what does look to be a defensive heavy draft, and some of those offensive players.
I trust them to find a WR in the draft over nearly any other position outside of QB amd CB. So I believe we can draft another 1000 receiver. I don’t believe we need one to win.

Point taken that is neutral but we are 38-30 with him that is avg..and chase is doing just fine without him, if he wants to sign for 20 million a yr might be ok but not if he cost us Tre

Tagging and trading Tee doesn’t have to be for picks. Use him to get the defensive stud you can’t find in free agency.
I don’t have enough years left in me for 48-46 wins or losses. The defense one way or another has to be the priority. All options should be on the table.

38-30 with Tee Higgins, or 38-30 with a coach that's still south of .500 six years in?

No way do i see us able to afford a new deal with Trey after contracts to Chasec and Higgins and he is way more valuable than Higgins, totally makes sense .. and have no valid points to make on topic, moving on.

I'm a big Trey Smith fan but the Bengals have one of the NFLs best offenses (yearly) with bottom of the league Guard play. They NEED to upgrade the IOL but spending 20m+ at guard? I'm not so sure. Smith would be a huge upgrade in the Bengals short yardage issues and at least average interior pass protection.
Tee Higgins has 69 receptions 858 yards 10 TDs! 78 yards per game... and has anyone mentioned he put up those stats while missing 5 games with a hamstring?

How is this a thing? Why would we lose Trey if we signed Tee. We have plenty of Cap Space to get Chase, Tee, and Trey.

They also draft infinitely better than the Bengals so the picks they got for Tyreek actually turned into another true impact player in Trent McDuffie. They were better suited to trade away a proven commodity when they still had 3 upper echelon players, and a FO who actually knows how to draft. Not to mention they didn’t trade away Tyreek when he was only 25 years old.
Burrow, Chase, Hendrickson
and Bengals would be buying a $20 million plus player in FA with the money saved from Tee plus a draft pick that may pan out. Bengals hit on Chase and Tee and there's a chance they do it with pick received as well. Its not a foregone conclusion the Bengals will mess up the high draft pick Tee will fetch.
Before everybody goes all Rankins and such, the Bengals made the SB with a bunch of FA signings on Defense. and the D was just as responsible for going to that SB as Joe, Chase, Tee, Boyd, Uzamah, and Mixon combined. They would not have made SB with the D that is featured today, not even close.
Also think KC is a better model than several teams who like the Bengals have never even won a SB.

Believe Tee would be a bargain at $17, but no am on recpord more than most saying its time to move on.

Like who? People just keep saying player x in FA but never mention specific names. Tee IS the top FA available this year. I’m sure we’d all love for them to go out and sign a Trey Smith for example, but anyone who’s even remotely familiar with this team knows they aren’t paying that kind of money to a guard. We would already have Joe Thuney if they did (he supposedly wanted to come here). Part of the problem with this years crop of FA’s is it’s mostly guys on the wrong side of 30. Especially on defense. That’s just not something this team has ever been big on.

But we on the board don't get paid and don't really have the knowledge to say this for certain. Many of the FA's we signed in 2020/2021 wasn't on anyone's radar as top FA's, (hell many said we overpaid for a relatively unknown outside of Houston in Reader). Hilton wasn't even good enough for Pittsburg to keep. Same with Bell as the Saints were done with him and he was relatively cheap. OBy... Remember him, couldn't stick anwhere and he wasn't a top FA and he was a key piece. They were perfect for what we needed and the FO or new Coaches signed them on the rise (a year earlier than they would have been the top FA's).
We have to trust the FA which is an issue, but theoretically just because we don't like the "top" FA names available, the Coaches / FO should know more and see some of the potential in players they are more familiar with then we as fans are.
This whole notion that the free agent class isn't good is lazy "scouting" by board members looking at names they recognize. "Scouting" based on top FA players list on the internet.
We don't need top FA's. We need to find up and coming talent not yet recognized who we can sign to 2nd contracts and hopefully catch on the rise as we did before. A couple Drew Dalman and Osa Odighizuwa type signings. Kyzir White type signings.
There are young up and coming players going into 2nd contracts that can help even if you all may not recognize the names.
