They got it right with Mike
#1
I hope the bengals can bring him back on a 2-3 year deal. He is having a really good year and would solidify that position, especially with All’s future in question. Currently second all time in YPG by a bengals tight end.

He is 12th in yards and catches in the NFL. He fits what the bengals do.

This was a good pickup in the offseason. I am hoping the Uzomah and Hurst post bengals signings help keep his value down.

He is 12th in yards AMOUNG TES in the NFL.  Just to be clear.  I really like his game he works the short-intermediate routes really well and him and Burrow seem to already have good chemistry.  Him and All are totally different types of TEs so no reason to not sign him really.

I hope they bring Gesicki back as well. He's a good option for Joe to mix things up with. And dump some of those other TE's, we don't need 5.

I'm also hoping they bring him back, but I won't lose sleep if they don't.

Also don't see Hudson back.

We will go into next year with:

- All
- Sample
- MacLachlan

Those are the guarantees. Don't think Grandy will be around either, but you never know.

And I will actually say that we DO need 5, because the position is now used so much in our scheme, we've had 4 TEs on the active gameday roster for nearly 2 full seasons now and 4 on the 53 for almost 3 full seasons now: it's a position we use fairly frequently.

I think everyone should be very concerned if they can't sign a very productive player who won't break the bank, a player that Burrow has built a great relationship with in the locker room, in the huddle and after the ball is snapped. Sample  is solid but he can't catch a ball more than 7-8 yards downfield and cannot extend a defense, All is injury prone and has been thru-out his collegiate career and already as a rookie and MacLachlan has done absolutely nothing thus far, albeit, not necessarily totally falling on him. Really good teams on this league use multiple (as in at least 2-3) TE's that can lineup on the LOS, can flex and that can go get the ball.

Nobody should ever assume that trust and chemistry between a QB and receiver is something that just happens. Takes a whole bunch of work and luck. I wish I could count all the people on this site that demanded that Burton should be playing..lol. "Just send him deep" or "WTF is wrong with Taylor for not playing him" or "It can't hurt to play him a handful of plays", etc. etc.

In a league that requires a position to have a pretty large dose of innate sense, incredible timing and trust with their QB and the ability to lose their man and not just by running by him by by applying plenty of strategy that comes with dozens of hours of video study, when you have that player and the means to keep him then you do it.

I would go with those you named and Gesicki and call it a day. But that's because I want the defense fixed so bad and we need Dlinemen and DB's so bad.

Gisicki has earned a shot to be back with the team next season as he should be. I can't see them drafting a tight end high up, nor signing one that is better in free agency, and they can't rely on who they already have, so he makes perfect sense to be back with a better deal that won't break the bank.

I would still sign Gesicki and Hudson, simply because All is not going to get healthier on a twice repaired knee (he may, but the odds say otherwise) and Maclachlan hasn't shown anything so far I have seen.

I'm keeping fingers crossed hard for All because man he looked like a real stud in the making before injury. But totally agree he sure appears to be Eifert 2.0

I agree totally, the kid can do it all out there, he just has to have healthy knees. Hopefully this surgeon can do a better fix than the last one.

Yeah I liked what I saw from him, albeit very little, before he got hurt.  I just think he will be out of the lineup more than he will be in it.

I like Gesicki outside of IMO some real concerns with ball security. He's had some monster games and it kills me that we don't throw to him more. Seems like some games he isn't on the field or never targeted and others he's 70+ yards and a tuddy.

Love All hopefully he can come back strong.

All will be fine, guys: just needs to heal up fully.

So many of our TEs are one sided  Sample & Grandy are blockers. Gesicki and Hudson pass catchers. All is the only guy who can do both, and his injury issues mean you can't count on him.

I have no idea about McLachlan.

You need 2 blocking TEs in some sets. And no backup to Gesicki to catch passes is risky if he gets dinged.

I don't see us going lower than four. If we do, it will because get another guy who can do both things well.

The position where we have too many is safety. Anderson AND Anthony never play.

Tycen Anderson is at least a really good gunner on ST. His job is probably safe. Anthony seems to be the odd man out.

All likely doesn’t see the field next year, especially if you want him to heal fully.

Very likely he will be 26 years old the next time he sees the field.

maybe not..inherent structural problems caused the first injury..which was probaly done by an excellent physician..it is what it is  sad fact that many players in every sport..some of the most talented have issues that derail their careers

He got hurt in what, week 8 this year?

Unless he has a setback, based on the current, "norms," I'd guess he'll be back by week 6.

This isn't the 90s or earlier anymore, I don't expect him to be out for an entire year, given the ACL turnarounds now.

I mean, Joe came back after 8 months, Amari Rodgers (albeit, an anomaly) came back after 6 months. I'd give All an extra 2 over Joe, then a month to get up to speed, which would be 11 months.

We'll see where he's at come the draft.

G-Sticky is the type whose knees are not held together by Rubber Bands

IMO...Folks hoping for ALL to comeback are like folks hoping who had hopes for Rodney Anderson.

Just wait and see.
