Sorry, but no one else is up, so I figured I'd post about this on here because I'm excited.
I think I mentioned it a while back, but they quit making the model of the communication device that I love, and I hate all the new models because they all sound too robotic, don't have cool noises or sounds, and are just more difficult to use.
I received my new one from the a government department but I couldn't get it to pronounce each word as I typed it. It would only announce the entire sentence when I finished typing and hit replay. That sucks because I type long sentences and it's tough to understand when it says it all at once.
A friend of mine that works there (not the speech therapists that got the device for me, oddly enough) found an instruction packet that had instructions that weren't in the manual.
The packet told me how to make it speak each word as I type it and also other cool features like cool noises that are realistic!
I'm obviously excited to find out more about it, but I was worried because I wouldn't be able to do the question/answer sessions of my presentations too well using that, but now I'll be able to be better than ever!
I know some of you might think this is a minor issue, but this means that I can communicate clearly with people the way that I've done it since the wreck!
WHO-DEY!

So, does this mean that you are now typing fart noises in crowded restaurants?

Never thought about a screaming button!
That would be hilarious in the middle of a restaurant when someone walks up and I just hit the scream!

Technology is amazing and people always credit me for my attitude but there's no way that I'd be half the cripple I am without assistive technology allowing me to be myself and communicate with others.

I found out that I can import voices, so I'm going to try and get the ghost voice from Scream! I already emailed the ladies that want me to make an appointment to figure it all out!

I mentioned how I figured things out on my new communication device, but I was still nervous because (like I typed) I couldn't find a plug to connect it to the speakers.
I emailed the ladies in the organization that we got it through, but they didn't have many answers, so I looked it up in the manual and it has Bluetooth.
This will be huge because it will make things a lot easier and allow me to have the speaker closer to the audience if I'm in a position away from where the speaker needs to be, which has happened.
This is big for me and I just figured I'd share it with my message board family!

I'm happy that you seem to keep discovering things about your new communication device that help you, over and over.

Yes I am!
There are still things that I like about the old one, just in terms of voices, sounds, and and pre-programming things, but I'm pretty sure that I'm only going to like this more and more as time goes on.

I agree!
It's still not perfect but there's so many things that go into it that it's difficult to get everything right, especially when there's such a small market for it.
My childhood best friend's dad (who was also my dad's best friend) own a speaker shop and he's getting me a speaker that has Bluetooth, which will make it that much easier.
I'll also be able to place the speaker in an area so the audience can better hear it, while I stay in a position so they can better see me.
