Geno Stone makes his plea to remain a Bengal

I have to think Golden has Xavier Watts eyed on Day 2.

The one thing I could see keeping the Bengals away from Watts is David Mulugheta.

In all likelihood Watts will be a 1 contract type guy due to his age(he will be 24 his rookie season). So its probably not going to be a deal breaker.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

I think we need a more athletic center fielder. He like many others severely under played his contract. In contrast, Tee and Chase over played their contracts so both deserve big raised. If Geno wants to stay, he needs to take a huge pay cut. with no guarantee so they can still cut him after preseason

The issue I have with players is they are reluctant to restructure and take less, but the second they out play a contract they demand more money.

If he would take a 3 or 4 million cut, then keep him and draft a guy in round 1 or 2 to compete with him and let the better man win.

If I were Katie I'd bring him in and tell him he was not good the first 10 or 11 games, and he admits that. He did up his game for the last part of the season. If he really WANTS to be here, I'd re-sign him, but at less money due to his lack of performance in the first 2/3rds of last season. And I'd tell him to take it or leave it.

Yea if I'm doing anything, it's bolstering this DL.
If people believe the old adage is true, it all starts up front.
You won't need great DBs in coverage if you can stuff the run at the LOS and generate a good, consistent pass rush with your front 7.

Personally, I'm looking to drop $$ on 1-2 DL in FA.
That would really open up the draft.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah the biggest key is your last statement, by all means necessary fill your biggest needs in FA.  I can't imagine having a DL deficit and having green DL starting above greener DL.  It may end up where DL is the BPA and you take them, but have 1-2 starters in place.

I get that Anderson was unlucky enough to get injured two years in a row, but now he's a special teams Ace, I'd like to see him on the field to know if he can do the real job he was drafted to do. I don't hold the penalty against Anthony too harshly, it was obviously a rookie mistake.

Yep, Tycen has just been hurt and this last season he became one of the best gunners in the game. I was honestly a little perplexed by not
putting him in the games with Battle to see what we have here late in the year. I don't hold that against Daijahn either, should of been off
setting penalties anyways with 2 holds on the Chiefs on the same play.

Compare that to the 4.62 of Stone.

Speed can make a big difference.

Speed sure does make a big difference. Once in a while you get players with great instincts to make up for the lack of speed, ala Bell in
his prime or Battle but they are Strong Safeties. Speed really helps with Free as we see with Bates who has speed and great instincts
which Watts seems to also have.

Playing that much single high for a guy with his athletic limitations was a poor use of his talent. If you draft a guy like Xavier Watts to pair with him on third downs then maybe you get the most out of him. Although, A guy like Anthony(to your point) could do that job at 9/10ths of the price of Stone!

Sorry if I am being too harsh on Stone, I don't think I am. He was a major disappointment for the money he was paid and should of at
least got some interceptions for us as that is what he was supposed to add. Lou's fault though too not helping him get comfortable early
on as a Bengal. He started making Ints late in the year but that shouldn't save him, it was more of him being in the right place at the
right time with decent hands rather than instincts and the things you cannot teach.

But if Golden wants to keep him around I am for it as a backup, but not at the current price. Waive Geno Stone and bring him back if he
is just a Camp body.

Sounds great to me. With both Rankins and Stone's money we could afford an actual player or two that offer something positive.
