We give the Bengals a lot of crap for their inability to find talent, this was a solid find for them. It makes the Robbins miss not hurt so badly since we recovered quickly on it without investing anymore draft capital.

Good move as he looked legit last season
Hopefully they are just warming up by starting out with the lesser $ extension because I think there’s a few other guys who may also require new contracts this off season.

Yep. Good stuff here, if par for the course.
Adomitis should probably be next. Though 1 think he has another year and is RFA instead of ERFA (?). If true, a tad trickier, but not much.
But this type of stuff is good business before FA opens for real. I like getting these guys locked up before the FA frenzy starts.
The close to MIN or MIN types who are almost sure to be back (Grandy, Rehkow, Adomitis) and others if we want them (Hudson, Bachie). Heck, even guys like Ford, T. Brown, Ossai, or ADG....if there is mutual interest and it isn't too costly. Get it done now.

Adomitis should be on the hot seat, not an extension candidate. I still have concerns about the kicking game and how it went south so fast.

Great find by the Bengals. Glad they got it done.

Maybe I am prejudiced because I always thought Ossai would be very good in time, but I thought Ossai played well the past month of the season. He is not projected to be a huge cap hit. I would happy if we signed him to a deal for 3 years and around 10 million. But, e may be able to get more if Bengals don't lock him up early.

Good move! If they can ever get the defense back on track, Rehkow can be a real weapon in pinning teams deep in their own end.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

If they can add 2 very good guards and fix our OL, hopefully Rehkow becomes like the Maytag repairman in commercials many years ago. Sitting on the sidelines and heading out to the field to hold for the extra point.

Overall, glad to have him. However, will reserve judgement until contract details are released. As an ERFA, we could have had him at league minimum for one year, then as RFA the following year, offered a qualifying tender to retain or get compensation. Early on, he did show some issues as the holder although I think those may be primarily on Adomitis. We’ll see whether they stick with Cal or look elsewhere. With a healthy McPherson, if they keep all three together with almost a year and a complete offseason and camp together, I would expect a much improved kicking game.

Cade York didn't look so bad. Maybe, just maybe there was another element of the kicking game that went south last year

Cade York finished 36th in FG% in 2024, 3 spots worse than McPherson's 33rd. Almost perfectly in-line with his t-35th FG% in his only other year in the NFL in 2022.
McPherson fell apart, but York is also just bad.

As a Bengal (which is the team Cal Adomtis snaps for and the topic of the discussion) in 2024 McPhearson made 16 of 22 FGs for 72.7%, Cade York made 9 of 11 for 81.8%. Now I'm no math wizard but Cade's percentage seems higher.

Except your initial point wasn't that he was higher than McPherson's career worst, it was that he didn't look so bad. Even if you exclude two of his misses, that 81.8% puts him at 27th in the NFL. That's still not "didn't look so bad" territory. Cade York is a bad kicker.

I'm not sure why you would target Adomitis. I don't remember seeing any bad snaps. I saw a couple of botched holds, and some flat out misses, but do not really remember any high or low snaps. The check engine light is on, but you seem to be focused on the windshield washer reservoir.

No my initial point is it may not have been the Long Snapper's fault that our kicking game went south.
You're actually supporting my point by asserting Mac is a better kicker.
Hypothesis: The Bengals kicking game did not take a nose dive in 2024 because of their longsnapper, but because their franchise kicker had a bad year
Conclusion: The Bengals longsnapper snapped to both the Bengal Franchise Kicker and an inferior journeyman kicker in 2024. The journeyman kicker had the better season. As they shared a common denominator it can be concluded the nosedive was caused by the franchise kicker and not the longsnapper

Also, injury could of been part of the reason why McPherson fell apart...

I'm happy with the signing as a kick off to the off season. Let's hope the Brown family and Duke pull off even better moves.
