Nice. Was just saying we should cut Rankins and boom, there yah go.

Bring back BJ Hill who is more than solid and bring back Ossai our second best pass rusher last year and add an End in FA to help out Trey
and our pass rush. If we add a DT like Walter Nolen or Kenneth Grant in the first our DL would be massively upgraded.

They need to release several more players.

Great start, Cappa and Sam should be next.

Add 9.5 million to our cap space in 2025.

It is nteresting they did it so early. Maybe asked to take a cut and he said no??

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

Wow, the hammer of consequence fell justly this time!

On another note, I know a fellow long time board member will be confused as to why there was no hinting from the beat writers that this was about to happen.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

It was confirmed what someone had said back in November or whatever, that he had viral meningitis. Nasty stuff.

Hope he recovers and can continue his career, shame it didn't ultimately work out with us.

The only surprise is it was a straight release and not an injury/illness settlement.

They won't release Sam immediately, they will try a restructure with a massive pay cut first

All hopes turn to next year

bacteria is an equal opportunity invader.  Meningitis is a serious life-threatening disease luckily the bacterial form is treatable.  Hopefully he survived it with no long term effects

Sounds good and still like Sam and think he will work his ass off to still be a solid contributor unlike some who think he is washed.

But right now he is making too much dough for what he brings.

Just a colossal mistake. He was awful even when healthy.

Favor Grant over Nolen because he could start, with McKinnley backing him up. Then some BJ Hill with Jenkins backing him up, maybe even supplanting him by the end of the season.. I feel good about that interior.

Then adding an edge rusher in FA as you stated...

Good times!

I remember mentioning bacterial pneumonia aka walking pneumonia back in November or December. It was bad in the Ohio Valley during the fall but I don't know if anyone confirmed Viral Meningitis for Rankins.

My biggest issue is with the coaching staff marching him out there when he is hurt, and thus hurting the team.

Put him on IR, let him get healthy, and let the younger players develop or flop.

It was a virus, not bacteria Wink

But yeah, I don't know anything that is sex-specific unless it involves reproductive organs: we can all get the same things.

I definitely remember someone bringing up VM, just can't remember if it was here or on Twitter...

EDIT* Huh, it was actually around the New Year, my mistake!
