Al Golden = Notre Dame Defenders?
#1
The addition of Al Golden as our DC, and Notre Dame having five defensive players invited to the combine made me interested in those players. Familiarity goes a long way with defensive coaches in particular.

Both DBs (Morrison CB, Xavier Watts S) are considered RD #2 picks, with Kiser LB, Cross DT, and Mills DT all considered day 3 guys. A couple of other guys not invited to the combine but worth looking into are RJ Oben and Jordan Clark both DEs.

I haven't done all of the homework here. If one of the technical guys would like to elaborate with pics it would be welcomed! It was just something that crossed my mind. I won't be surprised if we end up drafting at least one of those D-linemen based on familiarity, or at the very least signing a couple of ND defenders as UDFA.

If Watts is there at 49, I'd expect him to be the selection (unless something major changes in the combine or free agency, or there was some major faller available).

If Kiser is available in the 5th or 6th round, I think Golden would be interested in bringing him in as a reliable, if physically limited, LB for depth.

We are going to see Xavier Watts mocked to the Bengals alot this off-season but honestly I might be a bigger Andrew Mukuba fan.

I definitely wouldn't mind looking at Cross later in the draft.

Hopefully some inside info on the extent of Riley Mills injury. I’ve seen comments saying losing the team captain DL wasn’t good for their D in the playoffs.
