2025 NFL Combine & Pro Days Open Thread
Bengals team visit with jack sawyer. Tyliek Williams hurt his leg but seemed to just be a quad strain.

We are/will/have had visits with 3 OTs: Conerly from Oregon, Ersery from Minnesota, and Granr from William & Mary.

I cannot imagine they are thinking OT right away, though OBJ has not been fantastic. Gotta be OT they want to convert to G who could also swing out to OT. And maybe replace OBJ after 2 years.

All these guys are Day 2 guys at worst.

There's talk of teams moving down or completely removing Walter Nolen from their Boards. As he did nothing at the combine and only benched at the Ole Miss Pro Day.

Quote:The issue? Character concerns have popped up all throughout the pre-draft process with many teams reportedly taking the 21-year-old off their draft boards. It is currently unclear if the Eagles are one of those teams.

Robert Nkemdiche anyone?

It was reported that Nolen had serious character issues fairly early in the draft process.  It quieted down for a bit, but now seems to be rearing it's head again.  Basically doing nothing despite no injury concerns is a really bad look.

I would put him in the same category as Pearce.  No way I would spend a 1st, but I might gamble in 2 or 3 on him.

Bengals are bringing Walter Nolen in for a top 30 visit after meeting with him at the combine. Firmly puts Nolen on the radar at #17.

Update on the "character issues" they mostly stem from Nolen changing schools. He attended 3 different high schools and 2 different colleges. The word "mercenary" is getting thrown around lol. I'm fine with the kid wanting money if he earns it.

Seems a bit odd, as lots of college prospects hop schools and don't get that kind of a reputation.  He must have a very vocal "all about the money" attitude if that's what it stems from.  Still, it seems we are definitely doing due diligence on him.

Unrelated, but I saw Quinshon Judkins was getting a Top 30 visit, as well, so we could see the Bengals taking a RB higher than most expect or want.

They may be looking for a swing tackle, as right now they only have Cochran, Coker, and Steuber backing up OBJ and Mims.
Ford can fill in in a pinch too, but I hope they don't ever put him back outside again, personally.

I really hope they target a versatile OL who can play either OT or OG.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Ford played admirably when called upon to fill in for OBJ last season. Hell, he looked way better at Tackle than he did at Guard.

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

Perhaps with OBJ being under contract for this year and next, they are planning on drafting a potential replacement this year to develop? I don't know if Mims is earmarked to slide over to LT and the new guy would be inserted at RT, or if Mims even has any LT experience.

Bengals are bringing in both Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson for visits. Maybe Running Back is higher on their boards than we expect.

He played pretty well at LT?

If you throw RB into the mix in the top 100 for the Bengals there's scenarios where they don't get a Guard or DL in thr first 3 picks... which I don't like lol.

I think it was Joe Goodberry a month or so ago who broke down Ford's performance by position he played last year and found his best performance was actually at LG, not OT.
