Seems like a high end swing tackle, which would be shocking. Seems like a lower end starting RT which would be alarming, because WTF is wrong with our current OTs?

Nope, a solid tackle in league, not some backup, though unless we are moving him to guard im not buying the post, jets are working to keep him

Well, our OT depth is crap. So I am OK. We have a shit ton of cap space we aplarently are not gonna use on Chase or Trey.

No way they move him to guard.  They didn't draft a guy with that length to kick inside.  His only eventual home is left tackle.

Orlando's injury seemed gnarly last year.  I don't feel great about this.

This is the Tweet the OP is referring too. It maybe more speculation. Dianna Russini also posted and deleted a picture of Morgan Moses with the Patriots logo next to his name.

I think the Jets are the last team we should be poaching oline talent from.

I’ll believe it when I see it. If he’s any good, the Jets desperately need him.

How much are we talking? Like as a backup he could work. He made what, $5 million a year before this? And he's 34 now so probably less than that.

It isn't that different than bringing in Trent Brown last year for $4 million dollars. He only played 3 games before he got hurt but that's at least some of what you need from a backup right? Stop gap help for a few games when another player goes down?

Sounds like the type of thing you leak when Cody Ford is wavering whether to sign or not.

If it was, it worked.

1) I wish they had pursued MM sooner, like 3-5 years ago when he was departing WAS. He was cheap back then to sign and has been a darn good OT this whole time. Not sure why they never pursued him before. His yearly cap has never even hit $7 mill in any year since 2017.
2) He has only really played RT in his NFL career. But he can do it at a solid starter level.

If he becomes a Bengal, I'd be happy but also confused whether he will be a backup or actually start with Mims acting as the swing OT.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Yeah, a little late to pursue Moses. But as a backup you could do a lot worse, he stays healthier than Trent Brown. Mims gets banged up
so it would be great to have good depth behind him. We signed Cody Ford though so this might of been a contingency plan.

Reminds me of the Karlos Dansby signing. Would have been a good move if they did it 3 years earlier before he was in his mid-30s.

My worry is if they view Moses as a swing tackle, that gives even more credence to the idea that Ford is being looked at by the Bengals as a potential starting G.

FWIW, I think it was Joe Goodberry who said out of all the positions Ford played at, he was best filling in at LG when replacing Volson.
He wasn't great, but he was serviceable.

He'd be taking the Trent Brown position that Brown was unable to fill due to injury.

Seems fine to me.

I am all for stacking the o-line with proven players over hoping for someone to be there in the draft.

Having Moses as the first tackle off the bench to protect Joe Burrow is a good thing.

Frees up Cody Ford to compete at guard as well.
