I honestly don't know if there is a better fit in this draft. Personality and play wise.

BJ Hill, Tedarrell Slaton, Kris Jenkins, McKinnley Jackson.

Who you giving up on? One of the two guys we just gave new money too? Or one of the early round picks from last year coming off of solid rookie years?

No one. We carry 5 DTs. They usually all play some. The best 4 will play more. #5 less.

I will say this, though. Given that Hill/Slaton are likely penciled in as starters, and a DT would likely be a rotational piece, I doubt we spend #17 on a DT if a surefire stud/starter is available at another spot. Not impossible, though.

Not sure what other studs are in this draft, a lot of the skill position players seem under developed this year (I could be wrong here). I also don't think the CFB game this season is going to translate well to the NFL so my instincts are off right now - from everything I've seen 'game tape' speaks more than combine scores. My gut says to go with guys that were good a year ago, so Will Johnson is in the running in the first if available else the other defensive lineman available.

Other notes:
The team needs a bonefide 1st down North-South RB. My thoughts are Kaleel Mullings, Ollie Gordon.
Other RB: Treveyon Henderson, Donovan Edwards - both are former five stars that took over games during their career. Take that for what you will but would be good additions in later rounds.
Other players not projected as highly as I thought: Isaiah Bond, Denzel Burke, Fentrell Cypress II, Josaiah Stewart.
Other players I like and have a potential it factor: Harold Fannin Jr., Princely Umanmielen

I'll keep looking a put together a write up later.

We did. We actually carried 6 DTs at the beginning of last year. Hill, Rankins, Jenkins, Jackson, Tufele, and Carter. We had a lot of question marks behind our ideal starting two.

I think it's a different story this year. I think we know what we have with Hill, Jenkins, and Jackson. And the front office, who has been better at identifying DTs  than they have a lot of other positions, (in a FA period we knew would be more focused on paying our own) went and grabbed an outside free agent who happened to be young giant DT.

Definitely need to add to the pipeline. I don't dislike Grant. But I like Harmon better. And I like his teammate Jamaree Caldwell a lot too 3-4-5 rounds later. I wonder if Shemar Turner is a bigger version of Geno Atkins? Where is Deone Walker going? Sure would like him on my side.

Had Grant fall to me in the second in a recent mock. Took him.

I don;t think the priority of first round is DT, with signing Hill and FA pickup plus we high picks we drafted last year , im starting to lean to trade back, just not a strong draft for mid 1st round in areas of need, Guard, DE and Safeties' at 17..
