TJ Friedl explains their new approach to running the bases and mentions the word "accountability". We're going to watch a team with a manager that's been there, done that instead of a guy that is still trying to figure it all out.

I have a few questions here because I used to follow the Reds but have not done so after the last 15- 20 years.
1. Didn't the Reds always play the first game of the season before any other teams as a part of tradition? 2. When did the pitcher stop batting in the 9th position in the National League? 3. I know they put a clock on the pitcher here a few years ago. What's the penalty if they fail to get the pitch off in time? 4. How much does a beer cost at the stadium? ![]()

I just don't understand how 5'11 190lb Gavin Lux, with a career .383 SLG and having never hit more than 10 HR or 50 RBI, is our #4 hitter.

It just couldn't be easy, could it? haha.
Ah well...I liked how the offense looked early in the game and the pitching before the inexplicable Gibaut save attempt looked really good too. We'll get em on Friday.

Rooting for the Reds. I am kind of bandwagon fan with Baseball, I go with the team I like going into the Playoffs as I don't get to watch
too many Reds games unless they are good, which we all know they haven't been for a while now. Votto was one heck of a player and now Elly and always root for Cincy teams if they start to show up. Bengals I always root for even if they suck, so that is much different. Too bad it looks like the Reds started out with a loss, but it is a very long season in baseball. Doesn't mean much until about 20 games in or so.

Even the Cincinnati Enquirer said this morning, same mistakes, going to be a long season.

If he doesn't learn from this, then it will be the same mistakes. I stated in another thread that I liked that he didn't give an answer on his bullpen . . . he hadn't gone to war with them . . . now he's going to war and he's hopefully taking notes. Watching Bell truck out Lorenzen over and over in the last two innings and not learn was infuriating when it was clear he made too many mistakes for his team. He usually made it too difficult to come back with only three or six outs remaining.

Yeah, a loss is a loss, but there's another 161 games. What if we end with a record of 161-1? HAHA. Just kidding. I know that's impossible. But, I took the day off and I'm drinking beer. Sooooo........... ![]()

Except that he threw 5 straight fastballs on the outside of the plate, thinking a good hitter will not make an adjustment and hit the ball. Then a home run. Doesn’t matter if you throw 105mph, without changing location and velocity, a Major League Baseball player WILL hit the ball. |
