I just have to say that if the draft works out like this then I will be ecstatic. While I do not think the cabinets are bare at the edge I also believe the Trey replacement must be considered. Even if the work an extension out with him it does not change that he will turn 31 during the season. I believe Murphy will be an outstanding replacement for Hubbard and when he did get on the field his win rate was not terrible at all. I also think they could have a good young player in Cedric Johnson.

I really like the make up of the interior of the D line with the two youngsters who both showed that they have some talent, those being Jenkins and Jackson, and I think they pair well with Hill and Slaton.

I believe both the guard positions need to be seriously considered for upgrade. I like the signing of Patrick as a depth piece or as a starter early while breaking in a rookie. However, Patrick did grade out far better than either of the Bengals starting guards last season so he should be considered an upgrade to what they had.

RD. 1 - 17th Selection:

Mike Green - DE - Marshall - 6'3" 251

I would be lying if I did not say that the two separate allegations for sexual assault do not bother me because they give me significant pause in this selection. With that said the allegations were a few years ago and nothing has seem to come from either instance. If the Bengals feel confident in their due diligence concerning these matters then they land a dynamic edge rusher in Green. He plays with exceptional power and explosion as well as a high motor and violent hands. Green should push for significant snaps as a rookie and would appear to be the heir apparent to Hendrickson.

RD. 2- 49th Selection:

[Image: images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQymnFY0bDRx5zSlIiZFO7...61cIPxyw&s]

Donovan Jackson - G - The Ohio State - 6'4" 315

Jackson comes with a prototypical guard frame with a thick upper body and broad hips and has good length for an interior player. Jackson could have hurt his draft stock by moving out to LT for the Buckeyes due to injury but rather he raised his stock by putting together an outstanding run down the stretch on the edge. Jackson is a natural LG and it shows in both passing and run sets. Jackson plays a technically sound brand of football and while he may not be a pancake blocker he does look to finish when he locks onto a defender. Jackson should be the day 1 starting LG.

RD. 3 - 81st Selection:

Tate Ratledge - G - Georgia - 6'6.5" - 308

I could not believe the luck when Jackson was on the board at 49 and equally so to have Ratledge on the board at 81. However, I would not be able to get to the podium fast enough to make both selections. Ratledge plays a violent and physical brand of football at the RG position and looks to put every defender he engages on the ground. The toughness and physicality that Tate brings to the field are qualities that the Bengals have been missing on the interior of the line. Tate appears to diagnosis and react quickly to stunts and twists and seems to display a good football IQ. He should be able to push for the starting RG position very early.

RD. 4 - 119th Selection:

Jacob Parrish - CB - K State - 5' 10" 191

When you watch film on this kid there is just a lot to like about him. Parrish is silky smooth in coverage with fluid hips and very fast feet. He brings elite speed to the edge and good length to go along with good ball skills. Has displayed very good ability in man coverage as well as the ability to be productive in off man schemes. He is not a dominant run defender but is not afraid to stick his nose in either. Adding a touch more bulk should help him in this area as well. A great addition to the Bengals secondary and one that should push several players for snaps.

RD. 5 - 153rd Selection:

Barryn Sorrell - DE - Texas - 6'3" 256

The Bengals look to the edge of he defensive line again in the 5th round grabbing Sorrell from Texas. Sorrell is an edge player who has displayed excellent technique and and a tenacious rushing style. Sorrell does not generate eye popping power but he has displayed a really high football IQ and an ability to set up blockers with a variety of moves. Sorrell has shown very good ability to separate from defenders to be able to pursue the play or push the pocket.

RD. 6 - 193rd Selection:

J.J. Pegues - DT - Ole Miss - 6'2.5" 309

The Bengals look to the D line again with their final selection only this time moving to the interior with an extremely strong and explosive DT in Pegues. His movement, quickness, and change of direction are elite but he needs to continue to improve his game when engaged by double teams. Another aspect that Pegues brings to the team is on offense as a short yardage back. While early on it may have been a gimmick, Pegues proved to be extremely valuable as a runner in short yardage and goal line situations. Pegues rushed for 7 TDs for the Rebels in '24 and averaged 3.3 yards per carry.

Definitely a trenches draft! Lol
I still want Emmanwori at 17, something tells me, this kid is what our D needs. Love the rest of your picks a lot!

I know many are high on Emmanwori and that much of it has to do with his freakish traits and I get it the kid is super impressive when you are looking at all the numbers that surround him. I also do not want to sound as if I am trying to say he his not going to eventually be a star but when I watch film I have some concerns with him.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-05wrcG3ME

By the 1:24 point in this defensive film I really start to wonder about his motor. He does not look interested in attacking the run and specifically at about 1:04 there is a screen play where the receiver is running on the sideline and Nick is just barely jogging toward the play while another DB is attempting to make the stop. At 1:19 the running back shakes free from the d line and Nick is in a position to run over and make a stop and he just watches. At 1:23 the RB scores on a goal line attempt and Nick does not even attempt to stick his nose in to make the stop. At 5:25 Dart pulls the ball down to run up the middle and is running straight at Emmanwori and he does not come forward at all to attempt to make the stop. At 9:01 there is just a terrible attempt to tackle the runner who runs right thru him.

You can go and watch the defensive films, Missouri is another one where it stood out to me, and at least for me there is a element of physicality I keep waiting to see from him and it just does not materialize and he also does not appear to have super high instincts for the game. I like the kid but I do not like him in the first round. He may prove to be a Hall of Famer but these are things that concern me when taking him at 17 for what that is worth.
