You only have to fix 1 guard spot to fix the oline

"Hey, Burrow and the passing offense ended up Top 3 in the NFL with the OL they got. We don't need to improve it! Run it back!" - Bengals FO, probably
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

6th scoring, 9th overall offense last year.

....Just a reminder that Joe Burrow has never had a better ranked scoring offense than Andy Dalton's best which was also 6th. That's criminal.

Could you imagine Mr. Happy Feet (1st read King) behind the lines that Burrow has had?

Sorry, I was meaning passing offense.

1st in yards, 1st in TDs.

1st in yards, 1st in TDs.

Just imagine how much more effective and lethal the passing game could be if they actually focused on establishing the run and being able to convert critical short yardage on the ground?

Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

not really they have done a pretty good job in shoring up rotations..If Burrow goes down...then its a different story

Huh?? If either of the two big money WRs go down with significant injury, the game plan is drastically altered. If Chase Brown gets seriously injured, the game plan seriously suffers. (I like Samaje Perine, but he's not a featured back to carry the load in the NFL)

We can get our 3rd RB from the UDFA pool.

It's always interesting to me when we bring in new position coaches. We'll have a guy that's mediocre for several years, and we'll get all optimistic the player will be fixed.

Maybe. But, likely not.

Made even less likely with the Bengals lacking scouting department because the coach who got fired is probably the one who scouted/chose the mediocre guy.

The Titans had one of the worst OL’s in the league last season despite having Bill Callahan. Even the best coaches can only do so much with what they’re given. Expecting someone like Peters to make decent starters out of guys like Volson and Ford is pure folly.

It is a great year for running backs. I think we can geta future starter in round 6, but not an UDFA in my opinion. We havea chance to ugrade the RB room significantly,I hope we do it.

I'd expect a starting OG on Day 3 at the latest coupled with a veteran signing at or after the draft - they said they likely were done until the draft not for good. Which BTW is in 3 weeks.

Well there isn't a day 4, so you're most likely safe w/ going Day 3 as the latest

Rd 5 or 6 feels appropriate too if wanting to use a draft pick.

Many are saying this is a stacked RB class, so given that also RB is devalued, I expect some good ones still available that late.

The probability of landing a guard high looks better with college tackle prospects looking better at guard and a trade down for an 3rd.  There are a lot of DL prospects and they can use help anywhere there not only at pass rushing edge.  I could see them landing best DL in a trade down ( just too many there) and worst case a guard in the 3rd if they go true bpa for say a safety in the 2nd.  I still don't like banking on a rookie to be ready, so they'll need to check in on Scherff and any solid post draft release.  They can also trade a late round pick for someone that a team replaced in the draft.  They just can't assume that Patrick, a rookie and your 3rd tackle that looked meh fixing the guard play.

For the record i agree

A starter and a high round rookie was my wishlist for guard

If we do that AND with signing that one guy we got we’re good at guard
