I can't see anyone trading for him and eating that contract. I see a cut and then teams will look to sign for much less.

Agreed, teams aren't going to be lining up to trade for him because he's not that special of a talent. They'll wait it out and see if the Bengals cut him.

I read something on twitter we either signed an UDFA safety or invited him to rookie camp. Was like a 6'3 kid from a lower division school.

We have 3 needs right away
FS- we need to sign a guy that can play deep in the cover1/3 defense- realistic Julian Blackmon- He is 27 years old and played in Gus Bradleys cover 3.
RG- we have zero players at this position that I'm comfortable in. Realistic Option- Brandon Scherrf- solid player who is ring chasing.
3T- The DTs had 60 pressures last season according to pff. (for example the Eagles DTs had 135 last season) They didn't properly address the position adequately enough. Realistic option Adetomiwa Adebawore from the Colts in a cut day trade. Highly athletic and position versatile player.

Sign another Guard and/or get that Hendrickson extension done.
The thought of potentially going into 2026 with Stewart and Murphy as the starting DEs scares the bejesus outta me.
Also starting one of Volson, Ford, or Patrick opposite of Fairchild this year scares the bejesus outta me.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

It appears teams are denying him a chance at the NFL, they are esentially deeming him guilty as charged. Hr may be guilty, Ben may have been guilty also but he continued on in the NFL.
Looking at this story, it seems to be a he said, she said case. He also aleges she trying to extort $5000 out of him. I mention th amoun only because if Bond is making this up, why not say a huge number like $100K.
We will see where it goes. He is suing her and he has the pending charges.
It is now 2025 not 2008-2010. Bond is a college player not a Super Bowl winning QB. Ben will automatically get more rope than Bond And frankly, Ben would be sitting out more than 4 games if this occurred today
All hopes turn to next year

I agree, the contract is an issue.
Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I dont know about signing Justin Simmons. He might be getting to that point in his career where you see a noticable slide. He will be 32 in November. Last year he had a bad year with a PFF grade of 59.9 He could have a bounce back year this season but coming up on 32 years old, I just dont know about counting on him to improve the secondary. As has been said, if you are going to add anyone in free agency at safety, you might want to look at Julian Blackmon or wait and see who gets cut in the next few months.

I think the Bengals still have a big need for a DT that can get pressure on the QB. We lacked an interior pass rush last season and we still didnt fix it this offseason in free agency or the draft. The only hope now is to see if somone gets cut for salary cap reasons or the Bengals make a trade for a good pass rusher which I think is unlikely.

I don't think it is a need to extend a great player under contract. But, I hope Trey and the FO are reasonable and they get it done. Bengals have made offers it appears, Trey has said no. It takes both sides to get it done.
It is not 100% on the Bengals FO, I see it 50/50 equally responsible to get it done.

If that's the case, I also like Julian Blackmon. I think any competition in the safety room would be nice. Stone came along late last season, but he is still a pretty big liability with his tackling deficiencies.

I still don’t think they are going to extend him. They can get him cheap this year then franchise tag him next year at a high salary for 1 year. They can then let him walk and he would be what 31/32 years old?
I can also see Trey sitting out next year if he is franchise tagged. I think it will just get uglier next off season.

DO NOT EXTEND TREY. You would be doing so at the absolute top of his worth, and he is likely to decline from here on out. Not even due to age or a hard falloff, just because he has been so productive the last two years.
And don't hit me with the "thats not fair" crap. You dont win Super Bowls being nice. Make him play out this year, odds are that next AAv will come way down, if not, put him on the tag.

What? The Bengals have an opportunity to have TWO premium pass rushers on the field at the same time. Why wouldn't you extend Trey if at all possible? As Trey begins to decline, Stewart will be coming into his own and flushing the QBs right into Hendrickson's arms.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

I'd happily give him a 3-year front loaded. I get there's a great chance he's never going to be worth more than he is now.
You also don't win Superbowls by not rewarding your best players.
