Dax Hill 5th year option
#21
While I had confidence in Dax Hill when he was drafted and liked what I saw from the 5 games he played at CB last year, I can't imagine the actual performance at this point was the only reason he was given 5th year option.
CTB is in final year under contract, so he could end up walking after this season.
Keeping Hill an extra year helps so that both your starting CBs don't potentially leave next year.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

I’m fine with the decision it’s not my money and it will probably be cheaper than if he’s good in year 4 and then hits FA. I like his athletic profile but still not sure what he is as a player. Some blamed Lou for playing him out of position at safety which I thought was a reach considering he played the position in college so we need to hold the player accountable too. Far as the 4 game stretch at corner it was a mixed bag. We played New England with Jacoby Brissett and a terrible WR core they barely threw the ball and the Panthers as well with a bad WR core. He played good vs KC and I know he gave up the game winning TD vs. Commanders. He also made plays on the ball. Outside of QB , CB is the hardest position in my opinion to play. CB’s coming of an ACL is tough task some struggle to come back which is also why I like that they picked up the option. If he struggles maybe it’s because of the ACL then we get the next year to get a full evaluation. Also he’s a 1st rd. pick which usually means he’s expected to be a CB1 not sure if Golden with make his CB1 cover the best WR’s or just mix it up when in man.

I agree, I think there is upside here but also the price was what the Jets are paying Brandon Stephens so it's not like it was out of line for an average starting CB we'd have to pay in FA. When you roll in that we don't know what we are doing with CTB this atleast gives us stability which is good, especially if they get back on the same page this year.
