Improvements on the offensive line might be as simple as not falling down when their hands get wiped away. At least improving that is a main focus of new OL Coach Scott Peters

One of their new drills is simply standing leaning into a partner with their arm extended into his partner's chest. The ultimate goal is for that arm to stay there when yanked, tugged, pulled, etc. In lieu of that simply staying on their feet, which as we know was major failure last season, will allow them to reengage. This drill works on core strength, posture, feet position.

You throw a proper strike and do it with good mechanics and ramp up the speed it looks like you have more pop in your hands, you have more length, you can play with better posture so if they did wipe your hands or knock you hands down you wont’ be staggering forward and get beat.”
“The first thing is making the guys aware that the things are possible that we do,” Peters said. “And teaching them how to move and the mechanics, because you are not going full speed. You have to teach them the mechanics of how to move, the tools and all the components. Then, as we go forward, you just apply this particular technique.”

I see a lot of indictment of Frank Pollock in Volson's comments

I like what I hear about Peters. It does sound like Pollack wasn't near as easy to communicate with according to Cordell.

Communication is a big deal. The one thing Fairchild has a problem with is ending up on the ground a lot. If he can get this out of his game he 
could be damn good. He is very physical and doesn't play passive like I saw a lot with our OL under Pollack. I also like how Peters is teaching 
them how to hand fight being in martial arts and alike.

Pollack was here for two seasons too long.

Every single one of his units continued to under perform even though the front office tried to suppliement him with talent. Good riddance.

While I hope Volson doesn't start I would love to see if Peters can get him to consistently get lower and deny defenders access to his chest. When he actually did get low enough he anchored excellently and had actual push in the run game. It was when he set too high that he gave up leverage. Now for Fairchild I suspect Peters will work on balance but more importantly not getting too far over his feet when setting.

This is a great drill for Dylan Fairchild who tends to reach getting his shoulders over his toes which shifts his weight forward causing him lose balance.

Peters may have been out most valuable acquisition in the off season.  It sounds like Fairchild has a lot of potential if he is able to solve this problem.   And from the Paul Dehner article may upgrade all our interior offensive linemen.

This qualifies as my annual honeymoon perspective on our new acquisitions and prospects for going to the dance.

Yeah, we needed a new OL coach years back as Weezy said. I think Peters had about the least talented OL to work with last year with the Pats.

We have much more talent between Mims, Orlando, Ted and now the young guys IMO. Synric is spot on about Dylan and how he tends to fall forward
which ends with him being on the ground far too much. Perfect drill for our OL as a whole that were on the ground far too much last season under 
Pollack. As far as other acquisitions to the coaching staff I have also been really impressed with Hodges our new LB coach when he speaks.

I'm also pretty high on Montgomery.  I feel like we may have been paid back for NE scarfing a win from us in week 1 last year...

Same, I like a lot of moves we made this offseason even with the Trey and Shemar drama still over our heads. Everything could be looking 
up in a great way leading into the season once we get these two on board. Montgomery has some talent to work with on the DL and I think
players like Kris Jenkins, Ossai and even Murphy could really thrive in Golden's Defense.

If we can get those two back early enough I think we are going to be flying under the radar as a solid contender.   I know with Joe, Tee and Jamar there's always the expectation the we can contend, but I don't think anyone sees us as being in the race.   Just too many issues.   But if we get Trey back and Shemar getting some needed training I think the defense is going to surprise some people - and the O-line as well.  There's a lot of talent on this team waiting to bust out.

I legitimately think that only Bengal fans think this way and the occasional Bengal hater.

After missing the playoffs 2 years in a row? I kinda doubt it. They need to get back in and make some noise again for people to believe in them.

I think most of our issues were on Defense and the OL. Coaching could certainly fix all these issues.

Also, Kyle Brandt on Good Morning Football has us beating the Chiefs because Joe and the Bengals have done it before.

I don't know if we are that under the radar. Because yeah, we have a lot of talent and if the coaching works out, look out.

Yeah, I certainly haven't seen anyone scoffing at us contending for a SB. We have Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Trey (hopefully happy), Tee 
and new Defensive and OL coaches. Like I said, Kyle Brandt says we are the team to watch.

Moving the Chains picked Cincinnati and San Francisco as the two teams to make the playoffs this year that didn't make it last year.
