Will We Ever Go All-In On Our O-Line?
#1
Burrow is an incredible quarterback. He's actually the beest in the league, IMCO, but we just haven't had a solid line blocking for him.

Even so, he has still taken us to the AFCC game, the Super Bowl, and one game from the playoffs last season.

My question is, will we ever go all-out to give him an offensive line to finally give him a little bit of time?

I know it's not as easy as just deciding to do it, and maybe Peters will be able to make them at least average, but are we ever going to sell-out to give him the line he deserves?

If it were me, I'd take the money we'd spend on Hendrickson an spend it all on our line.

Like I said, I know it's not easy, but I feel like a protected Burrow could outscore any team, even without a lot of money sunk into the defense.

I think that time is coming soon Brad. I think we have the makings of a good line. I believe people will be surprised at a decent Patrick

1. No because the Bengals never go all-in, and also they don't financially value IOL.
2. We just set the record last year for most losses while scoring 33+.

This article shows what I already thought…it’s not about signing multiple top $ free agents. When it comes to the O line you gotta draft well. This has not been the case for the Bengals and that’s why their O lines have stunk but hopefully guys like Mims and Fairchild will change this.

This is even more obvious for the Bengals since they have invested so much $ into their skill position players - forces them to build the O line through the draft.

I hope so brother because I think Burrow, Chase, and Tee would absolutely dominate the league.

1. Mike Brown never used to but I hope that this "new" front office does or at least our coaches can convince them that it's the only thing holding us back from a championship.

2. Yeah and that was with Burrow taking the fifth most sacks, the most knockdowns (by a large margin), and one of the highest hurry rates, so imagine how good we could be if we had an IOL.

Yeah Mike never really prioritized drafting anything other than big names at the big positions (with a few exceptions) and never prioritized the trenches, which is where games are still won.

Look at how well Burrow has performed and think about it we can give him an offensive line to protect him before his body gets destroyed.

I know it's not as easy as snapping your fingers but let's hope we can put some effort into it and get it done.

And we had 2 starting tackles out with injury..we have drafted some really decent Ol and made a coaching change...I think we will see a significant improvement

Regardless of pff scores..we had a top 6 offense in the league and the line had much to do with it...mahommes and others run for their luves every play

Mike Brown is still in that front office. The "new" front office is largely the same as the old front office. We needed at least 2 starting IOL this offseason and we went with a 3rd round rookie and journeyman sometimes-backup heading into his age 32 season on a 1yr/$2.1m deal. Our highest paid IOL in franchise history was Alex Cappa at $8.75m/yr and there are 30 IOL this year alone making more than that. Our second highest paid IOL in franchise history was Trey Hopkins at $6.8m/yr.

While I have always been pounding on the "improve the IOL" drum all the way back to the Palmer era, even if we had the best IOL in the league Joe Burrow will never have an extremely low Sack % until both he stops accepting sacks as okay, and more importantly until we get a new HC who won't have his QB lead the league in pass attempts while refusing to run the ball. If you throw it 652 times and run it 380 times, you're going to get sacked, knocked down, hit, and hurried a lot.

I think we are turning the corner here. If I have any doubts it will be the depth at the tackle spots. In this league you have to draft well and hit on FA to find a happy balance. I think Fairchild is a good get, and Patrick is a good, versatile vet. I hope that Rivers and McLaughlin pan out, because it really opens up the wallets for next years FA period.

I don't think so. I feel like I've slowly been pulling off my Bengal colored glasses. We value money over talent and production. If we actually do hit on a draft pick we only have them for a limited time because money is better than talent. Burrows health isn't worth paying a talented FA guard or drafting a higher draft pick because if he gets a season ending injury it just results in a high draft pick that creates excitement. This is the Bengals good business sense. Money over talent and winning.

It hasn't been a lack of trying that has gotten the Bengals where they are..it is the lack of success in their attempts.

In Taylor's tenure they've drafted 10 offensive linemen and have signed numerous free agents

It's next season and I'm hopeful
