It's ok to not be as heavily invested in a team/sport and still be considered a fan.
I've overall enjoyed football and life better when preferring to just watch when the season outcome seems bright and not caring so much to watch if the season is going poorly.
At the end of the day, I've been a Reds fan and a Bengals fan since 1980 at least. Yet I'm still a Bengals fan after a 10 year decade of sucking in the 90's.
I have season tickets to the Bengals and drive 2 1/2 hours each game day to watch them because I love football.
The Reds on the other hand I havent been to Great American Ballpark since 2012. Really dont care to go. Experience is sub par. Team has sucked. Owners don't care about the product. It's not easy to watch the product on TV.
I grew up and played baseball through HS, but could careless about the Reds. If you want to say the Bengals ownership is bad, we might want to take look at the team next door who never get flack even though they havent won a post season game since 1995.
So while are there challenges with this organization, yes, are there challenges with EVERY organization? Yes....Are the Steelers struggling to find a QB, yes, but there the Steelers they should get any QB they want...blah blah blah....Watt is sitting out mini camp because he wants a new contract...yet no other team has drama or disfunction.
Sorry i'll get off my soapbox now lol

If Trey and Shemar both sit out I'm drafting Burrow in fantasy with my first pick. He's gonna need to throw for 450 and 5+ TDs a game to get a W.

ha if both sit out, my guess is you'd see a trade or signing off multiple DE being released in August.
However, if i had my guess, you'll see both in camp in August and happy because they got $$$.
My guess however is you wont see Shamar's ass off the bench for quite awhile his rookie season.

I fully expect Shemar to go the route of so many of our non top 5 draft picks where for whatever reason he's "totally technically a rookie, you guys" in his second season.
They will probably cave in amd play and we have 1 year to win the SB before he leaves and our defense is looking down the same barrel it is now if he holds out.

It is so funny to hear fans tell other fans to just 'kill themseleves' if you point out how comically atrocious the bengals org has been for 3+ decades
That level of delusion is hilarious

Honestly, I was unaware any of those things were even possible until reading that article. I was hoping that with the news of Walter Nolen and Grey Zabel (drafted one spot before and after Stewart) both signing their deals that included the same language, that it would lead to Stewart signing and officially joining the team.

If he signs prior to camp, he'll likely start out at the end of the rotation. However, if he proves coachable and makes plays in camp, we all know that a lot of bygones are erased by demonstrating good play on the field.

I would actually disagree with your take on the Reds, personally.
Reds haven't been consistently far away from .500 since Bryan Price was the Manager.
In the 7 years since Price, Reds have had 75+ wins all but one season and on pace to do it again this year.
I would argue the lack of salary floor has forced the Bengals into putting a little bit more money into the team than the Reds ownership does, plus the cap helps keep parity in the league.
I would guess personally though that you may find more enjoyment going to Bengals games and watching football than you do baseball.
For me, I'm more than happy to drive 4.5 hours to go watch a baseball game on a Saturday once or twice in a season even if the Reds aren't overly contenders compared to trying to go watch a game on a Sunday and get back home by EOD Sunday to go to work Monday for a Bengals game.
Not to mention watching baseball in person is far more enjoyable than watching on TV whereas watching football on TV is much closer to watching in person (for me), so I would choose to watch football from home and would rather be at GABP for baseball games.
And the final aspect of going to games between both sports is obviously price.
I've never been a season ticket holder for any sport, as when I lived in greater Cincy area I was either a kid or poor college student and then moved away once leaving college, not wanting to spend all that time commuting to games while also paying the prices. If I lived in greater Cincy area though, I would have likely at least tried doing season tickets one season for Bengals and probably would go to 10+ Reds games a year.
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs
Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.
Sorry for Party Rocking!

I get where your coming from but 75 wins is still under .500 in baseball. Being a .500 team in baseball is still a crap team because your not making the playoffs. In football, the Bengals finish 9-8 and they'll looked at as a shit team. Since 2003, the Bengals have been a consistent team in regards to winning season. They've had good and bad season. No matter how much we want the Browns to change their business model, they arent. They've changed somewhat because in the past they would've never given Tee and Jamarr big contracts. They've been known to sign 1 and let the other walk. If the Bengals had signed Jamarr and Trey and let Tee walk you'd hear people bitching and complaining about that. So you can't make everyone happy. Again, my guess is eventually Trey gets done. Shamar, I could give 2 shits if they let him go back to the draft in 2026 and let him be someone elses headache like they did with Ricky Hundley in 1984.

I didn't think you could play college ball against once you hired an agent and hit a certain point. And for sure after drafted.
IF you could, why wouldn't guys that go undrafted or drafted later than they thought just go back to college.

there is a ridiculous rumor floating around on FB that Musk is buying the Bengals . As much as I detest Musk, the idea of someone coming in and allowing us to modernize and level up to the rest of the big boys is what this team needs badly.

Would the bengals get the 17th pick back in the 2026 draft of Stewart never signs? and get 2 1sts?

Re-enter the NFL Draft? How Shemar Stewart could use CBA loophole to create nightmare situation for Bengals
The Bengals might have just picked a fight with the wrong rookie
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/re-enter-the-nfl-draft-how-shemar-stewart-could-use-cba-loophole-to-create-nightmare-situation-for-bengals/
'This would allow the Bengals to void future guarantees if he were to get into trouble (this could be a suspension for on-field conduct, off-field conduct, an arrest or anything else the Bengals can think of). Normally, a first-round pick gets a fully guaranteed four-year contract, but this would give the Bengals some wiggle room to potentially get out of that if he were to get into trouble at any point during his four-year deal.'
'Stewart's leverage. For most of NFL history, rookies were generally broke when they entered the league, so many of them would quickly sign their first contract so they could get the signing bonus in their pocket. That's not the case with Stewart, though. The former Texas A&M star collected plenty of NIL money in college, so he definitely isn't broke, which means he can afford to wait things out until he can get the Bengals to cave, if that's what he wants to do.'

His contract still cost the Chiefs 6.5 million. Now imagine a first round pick like Stewart doing something off field like that and costing the Bengals 19 million. Can you not understand why the Bengals want that language in Stewarts contract? or even Knight's? More teams are adding that language because of the stuff you see some of these guys like Rashee Rice doing off the field. You shouldn't get to drive your Lamborghini 120 mph on public roads, cause accidents that injure people and have your contract guaranteed. Teams should be able to have the option to cut players for behavior like that not have the players be rewarded with millions of dollars guaranteed every year no matter how bad they act. That's just ridiculous.

Or Stewart picked a fight with the wrong stubborn 90 year old owner. I mean this is the same organization that said eff you to Ricky Hunley in 1984.
Next who's to say next season he's draft in the 1st round...or even better by a team that doesnt put this same "clause" in a contract? Whats he do then? Sit out again?
This is why i said NIL and all the college football $$$ and paying players, I dont blame the Bengals for wanting this clause in the contracts going forward especially if 21 other NFL teams currently have it in their contracts.
NIL and college football $$$ is going to be a HUGE headache for the NFL going forward IMO

The college NIL money is a big factor. These guys are rich already. They don't need to just sign that contract to get a 1st big paycheck.
That does make sitting out a year more realistic.

I think the only issue with that is...if he says nope I'm not signing. Goes into the 2026 NFL draft, how far does he drop because now he's a character issue.
He only cares about money. He doesn't care about playing the game of football. He only had 4 sacks in his college career and yet he thinks he's worth more than he is.
Thats where this NIL and players not signing and going back into the draft the next season leads.

How much money would he lose if he sat out a year and how far would he fall in the draft next year. The funny thing is with more teams adding this language in their contracts, Stewart could end up in the exact same situation next year. How funny would it be for Stewart to lose money this year, fall to #32 in the draft next year and have Philadelphia draft him when Philadelphia has that language in their contracts too. What is Stewart going to do, sit out another year? Talk about career suicide

Kids getting crappy representation from his agents and it's making the kid look bad.
Again, loved the pick when it was made, the more this goes on and the way he talked the other day at mini camp make me wonder if there are character flaws with Stewert TBH.
