THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!
BIG THANKS to Harley for letting everyone know what happened and for the updates!
I’m sorry that I haven’t responded until now but I didn’t even see the thread when I checked after Harley sent me a Facebook message because I didn’t even think to look in the little section above the other threads!
I am following the team and doing my best in therapy to recover!
Tomorrow is big because I go back to the ortho surgeon to find out if my fractured pelvis is healed enough for me to go home because I am currently not allowed to put any weight on it. PLEASE PRAY that I can!
I have a long list of injuries (six broken ribs, broken arm in two places, collapsed lung, scalp laceration, etc), but I’m a fighter and I PROMISE that I’ll get through all of this!

You got this Champ. A positive attitude is paramount to healing the body. Keep your spirits up and we'll keep throwing the prayers up for your speedy recovery.

Thank you sir!
Like a quote (summed up) from one of my favorite books, Man’s Search For Freedom: you can take everything from me, but the last of the human freedoms is how I choose to react in any circumstance.
You can’t take away my choice to smile through all of this!

You should read "Can't Hurt Me" by David Goggins.
Great read about embracing the grind and how important it is to have the right mindset to push through psychological limits.

Update on Brad from his brother last night.
Quote:Brad Update:
It’s been a little while since I have posted an update, mainly because it’s been much of the same. Lots of resting and waiting for his body to heal. However, today was one of the more significant set backs we have had since his accident. One of the bigger issues he has is the broken pelvis. He has been non-weight bearing up to this point (cannot stand or transfer out of bed). Brad had a follow up with his ortho surgeon to see how his surgically repaired arm was healing and revisit the pelvis fracture. He was able to get staples and stitches removed from his right arm, but the news on the pelvis was not what we were expecting. It is not healing as they had thought which means they want to keep him non-weight bearing for 3 or 4 more weeks. This means he cannot transfer from his bed to his chair and will have to continue using the lift in his room to get him out of bed. It may not seem like a huge deal, but not being able to completete simple daily activities (like using the restroom) is a big step for his overall recovery and independence. That will have to wait. As you can imagine, it was not the news Brad was hoping for. His ribs, pelvis and arm continue to be the main sources of his pain. He wants nothing more than to be home but we can’t do that without 24hr care if he is unable to transfer on his own.
This took some wind out of his sails. Champ is as strong as they come but it’s tough mentally when you aren’t getting the progress you are expecting. We will push forward and deal with it like we do everything else, but it sure would be nice for him to catch a break! We have to focus on the fact that we are blessed he is still here with us and his body will heal………..it’s just going to be a longer road ahead of us.
I am beyond proud of how he is handling it all. He has his moments but he is a warrior. Its incredible. Most would have already given up. I don’t know how he does it. All we can do is support him and pray his body continues to recover. He is worn out and tired, but the fight is still there. Champ is Champ.
From Brad and our entire family, Thank You! We are forever grateful. Please keep the prayers and support coming. It’s working.

I'm sad to learn that his pelvis isn't healing like they had hoped it would. Poor fella stuck in bed, has to be tremendously frustrating.
Volson is meh, but I like him, and he has far exceeded my expectations

My thoughts exactly. I know that when we last chatted, he was upbeat and hoping to get out of rehab this week. That doesn't sound like it's going to happen.

Another update from Mickey.
Quote:Another act of kindness that brings tears of joy.
As most of you know, some family and friends opened up a GoFundMe campaign to help support Brad financially through this recovery. While this was not something our family was originally comfortable with, it has been a big help in providing Brad with adequate care and options. For example, insurance is no longer covering the costs of Brads rehabilitation facility. This means we are required to private pay for the services he is recieving. We are challenging this and hope to be reimbursed, but we have to move forward. Thanks to all of you, the money raised is being used to cover this.
The support via the GoFundMe was so overwhelming, we shut down the donations. We are beyond blessed and grateful that we have sufficient funds to cover what is coming Brads way. We wanted find a way to give back to the community that has done so much for us. There are many families out there in desperate need of help that may not access to the support that was so graciously provided to Brad. We want to bridge that gap for other individuals and families in NKY.
Thanks to an anonymous donation of $25,000 (THANK YOU!), The =AZXxJqp6_TURZ5ll-PwBssBPVM5SJ2D0hgtfBiyq2lhrN4FRHyzC4jqtz_-5MA3kWVeokgT2OCLiXIvHpkzXHdlITXDdnKOgXG1M0SHnrlf_o_iV3_vnLHPY3o78YVVAvrnMeTAXL2FszWVcmqdB5lWcxGQxQTL4uIz3_PaUHOIT68xhezU0c4stnUk9oRoOymA&__tn__=-]K-R]Horizon Community Foundation of Northern Kentucky has established The Champ Fund. This Fund will allow us to identify and support those in our community that are facing an unfortunate tragedy in their lives. It will provide them with some of the same financial support that Brad has received from all of you. Brad will be involved in this process and will allow him to give back to the community in a different way. For those of you that have been looking for ways to support us, please consider giving to The Champ Fund so can pay it forward to other families in need. PLEASE DO NOT FEEL OBGLIGATED! It's just another way we can take can an unfortunate circumstance to better the lives of those around us.
I cannot say it enough...........Thank you for all the support!
