Multiple reports on the level of energy and attitude coming from the defense.  They aren’t giving up on plays…something we all know was an issue last years.  They are doing a lot of talking before, during, and after plays.  They continue to stay active between plays and drills

That was his issue in college. I'm watching college corners right now for next year's draft and it's the same for most of them. Pattern recognition route depth, spacing all the anticipation stuff.


The Corner group is one of those position battles we haven't really discussed. Dax Hill, Turner, CTB, and Newton are all competing for starting spots. Newton is getting alot of talk as the Nickle Corner. DJ Ivey almost 2 full years removed from his knee injury is having a nice camp I hear.


Hopefully even though they aren't running 9on7 drills these DBs won't have trouble tackling vs the run like they did last season.

Yep. I was blasting him this year due to his holdout, just like I blasted Burton last year for his antics and Hendrickson this year for his yearly new contract demands. That said, once they are signed they are Bengals, and you have to pull for them.

Pretty spot on Ike. Shemar has the stuff you cannot teach. My only worry is his IQ honestly after him talking about his dispute publicly.

But as you say he was universally liked by his coaches at A&M so there is hope. All I know is he can set the edge like a mutha in the run 
game and that is sorely needed on this team. Trey is not the best run stopper, neither is Ossai and Murphy was terrible stetting the edge
last season. Shemar should be an instant upgrade over washed up Sam.

He will be much more disruptive as well with his lightning quick first step, athleticism, power and strength. All elite.

I like what he said in his interview after he signed. He told his agent he needs to be on the field to learn. That means he's not coming in thinking he knows it all and will listen to his coaches and peers. He also said he likes his agent, who he called a pit bull, because he doesn't want to deal with negotiations and wanted someone who would fight for hiim. Yeah, I still think he made a bad decision with this guy, but that's his call.

He’s not good and will get burnt all year. We needed to upgrade CB this offseason and we didn’t.

Wasn't he playing hurt last year, before his season ender? Turner always looked good to me.

It’s not hate. It’s reporting what we’ve seen and heard from camp so far. He’s struggling.

Also, some of you throw around terms like “lights out” way too casually.

It's the first week of camp. Who cares. Seriously. 

We saw him play really, really well the back half of last year before he got hurt. I'm gonna lean on that sample a littttle more than 5 training camp days.

I am not expecting much out of Stewart this year. Rotational DE who plays the run well.

As for Turner, that report tracks with what we saw last year. He gets in good spots a lot, but even with sticky coverage, he fails to make the play.

Whether it is size, finding the ball, or just a football awareness thing that he does not have. It is why I always hesitate to take traits guys who don't make plays. Even if they a good guys and try hard. Some guys just have "it" and others don't.

What he meant was that Shemar was good in college and before that he was really good in high school so if Shemar had played running back or quarterback he would likely win the heisman because that's how good and disruptive and monster al lights out and stupendous he was but since he plays edge rusher and defensive end he probably can't win the heisman but if he had played another position like quarterback or running back or mabye even wide receiver he would have won the heisman or maybe he did win some kind of award for being disruptive but he doesn't know the name of the award and he confused it with the heisman regardless you know exactly what he meant just like i know exactly what he meant and every knows exactly what he mean because he said it.

A lot of praise for Fairchild, Slayton, Jackson, CTB, Turner. Sounds like the CBs are playing through the hands really well so far in camp, breaking up a ton of balls.

I think it's a little disingenuous to judge corners when they are playing shorts football and the main emphasis is not to hurt the WR. If you remember, AJ Green getting tangled up in camp and hurting his ankle was the start of his downfall.
