Bengals signing QB Desmond Ridder
#1
A UC Bearcat comes back to Cincinnati. He's not a bad option for a #3 QB

It's next season and I'm hopeful

Good signing for backup talent and to get the team ready for running QB's.

A favorable meh move.

I hope he balls in tc and we try to get something out of jake browning. I definitely feel browning is a serviceable starting qb in the league

They had an open roster spot so no one gets released with this signing.  Because they have an international development player on the roster they are allotted an extra roster spot.  This signing brings them up to 91 players, 90 under contract until Stewart signs.

the QB room now has 4 players with NFL starting experience

Desmond Ridder looks way too much like the villain from the 1963 movie Blood Feast.

I can dig it. Some competition for the QB room.

I was always shocked he actually got drafted in the 3rd round. Watching him at UC I just never thought he had an NFL caliber arm. Greatly benefitted from Luke Fickell/Marcus Freeman and the guys around him (an NFL RB, 3 NFL WRs, an NFL TE, and that defense).

Hope he does well here, as he always seemed like a good guy and more competition among the backups is always good, but not expecting much more from this signing than a camp/preseason arm.

Even though they don't have to, it is being reported that Logan Woodside is being released

Well not the signing I was expecting. It makesme wonder if Bengals are thinking of trading Browning.

I hope it was an extremely team friendly deal.

No sign Stewart please. Tre is under contract.

Interesting, I guess Browning is not going anywhere.

Can he pay Defense ? NO.   Bengals are still ignoring this awful Defense needs some quality players.  As of right now, Cleveland will clean Bengals clock and beat the heck out of Bengal opening game. Bengals are not doing anything to put a good defense on the field.

You happy?

Signed free agent DT McTelvin Agim. Agim (6-3, 300), a third-year player out of the University of Arkansas, originally was a third-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in 2020. He has played in 18 career games — 17 with Denver (2020-21) and one with Indianapolis ('22) — and recorded 14 tackles, 1.5 sacks and two PDs.

*Signed free agent DT Taven Bryan. Bryan (6-4, 291), an eighth-year player out of the University of Florida, originally was a first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018. He spent his first four seasons (2018-21) with the Jaguars, then played for Cleveland in '22 and Indianapolis from '23-24. He has seen action in 113 career regular-season games with 46 starts and totaled 154 tackles (85 solos), 24 TFLs, 11.5 sacks, three PDs, two FFs and one FR.

Our issue is we do not go into try hard mode till our backs are against the wall too laid back.

We need to come out of the gates in try hard mode first game of the season and not stop till the very last whistle of the very last game.

He is though. Ridder isn't an NFL QB. I get a 3rd QB is never going to see the field but Ridder is bad.

They hopefully aren’t stupid enough to trade Browning just because they signed Ridder. Ridder is a 3rd stringer at best. This team should be trying to win now. We have seen that they can still compete if Browning has to play but Ridder is not near that level.

Same reason I say Trey should be the priority over Stewart right now (although the desperately need both) - Trey is going to be much better than Stewart this year and they will need those sacks. I know he’s under contract but it’s messy and I think he will sit/miss games if this doesn’t get resolved. That can’t happen for a team that should be in their SB window.

He isn't any worse than Logan Woodside... and far better than most #3 options
