The Good, Bad, and Fugly; Preseason Game 1

If Hendrickson is signed, and Sanders plays, he's not going to like Trey and Shemar coming at him. It may be his welcome to the NFL moment like Gilberry and crew gave Johnny Alcohol.

He also did get a pressure but he never really affected rhe QB because the OL recovered easily after an initial loss when Jenkins slanted. As a gap control run defender he controlled the point of attack, flowed down the line with good lateral agility when needed, discarded blocks, and got his hands on the ball carrier.

Nice. Kris looked good in those snaps for sure. I am liking what I am seeing from our 2nd year DT's.

Thanks Synric. Rock On

Remember Stewart is planned to take most of his snaps where Hubbard used to be - if he keeps improving his knowledge and is game ready having him on one end and Trey on the other will give us a fun DL to watch. Yes the defense got skunked a lot but also a lot of it was players going to the wrong spot (especially at LB) and mismatches in the secondary with us missing so many starters back there. As to Jalen Rivers move his butt inside; that was where scouts had their most upside for him. He has strong potential but as a Guard not a Tackle.

I think Ossai is our starting LDE. You got your wish, they moved Rivers to 2nd team RG today and had Cody backup RT

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I am going to stop hyping Ossai, he didn't show me anything in the first preseason game.

Just going to shut up and hope he produces, if not, Stewart is coming.

I was impressed with Barrett Carter.

Physically dense proportionally, but moves like a safety.

To me, he looks like a baller.

Knight looked stiff. First game and new system, but the Shipley run showed hesitancy on taking on blocks.

Preseason games are where marginal players sink or swim. If you're looking for the sinkers this is the time to find out. I don't put much stock in preseason games as to how the overall team is going to play in the regular season unless it's a complete rebuild season.. The offense is pretty much set other than RG and oline backups. Defense needs to be marginally better and more healthy than last season. 3-4 points per game can turn the team into a jugernught or last years flop.. We'll see though.

I think its a combination.   Some of these guys were bad draft picks.  I think most of these guys are mediocre with a couple being good.  When people keep saying its Lou's fault for not coaching these guys up, which players do you think should be a lot better than what they have been?  If we dont see a significant improvement from Golden's defense this year are people going to blame Golden for not coaching his players up or are we going to say maybe we are lacking in talent on this defense and we need to add more talent?
