Deja vu?

With McLaughlin set to make his preseason debut against Washington, are they rushing him back too soon  like they did All?

I felt like All was thrown out there in camp a little soon with his injury history coming in and I fear they may be rushing McLaughlin back too soon too.

Is the depth that bad? Or is he that good?

I thought he was a strong candidate to stash on ir but they are set to have to make a rooster decision on him.

They did a running back dirty like that too early in Zac’s career so this is a thing. The running back from Oklahoma I think.

I think that McLauchlin was a good player in college that likely would have been a mid round pick if it weren't for the injury. From what I've read the Bengals are taking a hard look at him to make the 53, as they feel like he won't last on the PS.

Sorry I was making a joke.

We drafted him late in the draft last year right (at TE)?

If he wants to be activated to try to make the team I say go for it.

I'm good with our top 4 tight ends not including him.

If he surprises and makes a name for himself that's a good problem to have.

I really liked All and it sucked to see him get injured as he was easily our best TE and would be this year if he was healthy.

Didn't All have a pretty comprehensive injury history? Hard to know if 1 or 2 months more recovery would have avoided it.

The first post of a thread really needs to use the whole name of the player at least once.

Spent way too long thinking this was about Tanner McLachlan, who I didn't know was hurt, but you brought up Erick All which made me think even more we were talking about TE.

I didn't even remember Seth McLaughlin existed until now.

Which one is the Center and which is the TE? I'm kinda leaning toward Tanner being the TE.

Erick All’s 2nd ACL tear was due to a failed surgery not failed rehab. It wasn’t repaired correctly the first time therefore it was always doomed to tear again sooner or later.

TE Tanner McLachlan.

C Serh McLaughlin.

In my head, Tanner is Scottish, which helps me spell his name

I didn't even know Seth McLaughlin was ever in consideration to make the 53, honestly.
Aside from Volson, whose potentially at risk for not making the roster in favor of SM? Matt Lee I guess?
Zac Taylor 2019-2020: 6 total wins
Zac Taylor 2021-2022: Double-digit wins each season, plus 5 postseason wins
Zac Taylor 2023: 9 wins despite losing Burrow half the season
Zac Taylor 2024: Started 1-4. Ended 9-8 but barely missed playoffs

Changes needed to do better in Sept/Oct moving forward.

Sorry for Party Rocking!

Call me crazy, but noone drafted him. To date, teams have no NFL tape and may not get any if he does not play in preseason. I think that may be a heavy lift for a team to cut a guy to place him on their 53 man roster flying blind.

It could happen, but just not sure it should be a huge concern for us. If a team wants him that bad, maybe they make an offer as he would not be a lock for any team to grab off of our PS.

Please use 2025 free agency to fix the trenches, not the draft!!!!!!!!

I think upon further review of preseason game 1, Andrew Coker and Jaxson Kirkland had good games. I did like Lee as well and though the showed promise.

Erik, while I get the acl wasn't repaired right, did catch my attention last summer for the amount of work he was getting coming off of injury, and they do have a history rushing players they draft/sign as undrafted free agents back from injury for some reason. When they could stash them on pup for the start of the season to keep them around.

All ended up being good, but we did at the time have a number of TE's in the room and theoretically didn't need to rush him back.

This will probably piss people off,  but Ted karras if cut would save 4.8 million in cap room. If,  the coaching staff feels good about both Lee and McLaughlin as C then moving on  from Ted makes some  sense.

Jessie Bates left the Bengals and that makes me sad!

To what end?

The Bengals already have enough cap space if they wanted to add someone, so it's not like they need the space. Meanwhile even if Karras isn't going to be your starter, he's still a quality backup at both C and LG for when an inevitable injury happens somewhere on the line.

You want to make the offensive line situation even worse?  Have 3 new starters on the interior of the line?  No way does Karras get cut.
