1. Noah Spence, EDGE, Eastern Kentucky
Athletic speed rusher who can rush from a 3 point or with his hand in the dirt. Offers a flex and bend Bengals haven't had in years. Could see a Khalil Mack or Von Miller type presence in the pass rush department in his career. Character concerns will keep him in that 15-25 range.

2. Sheldon Rankins, DL, Louisville
Minor knee injury hopefully works in our favor slowing the Rankins hype machine a bit. A penetrating 1T who is showing the explosion and athleticism to be an all around impact player from the inside. Instantly improves a questionable DL rotation.

3. Deion Jones, LB, LSU
Think Deone Bucannon in Arizona. Nickel specialist who can cover slot WRs and TEs. Can play a big S role or small LB. Fluid athlete who isn't afraid to mix it up. Can fly across the field.

4. Roger Lewis, WR, BGSU
Major red flag character concern but has immense talents. 5 star recruit to OSU who had 2 rape allegations brought against him (1 settled out of court, the other dismissed). Speed for days to get behind a defense. Tracks the ball in the air and shows the soft hands to reel it in.

5. Graham Glasgow, OL, Michigan
Glasgow is a C/G who provides depth and should be able to push for the starting job. Taller for a center but shows good bend in his knees to stay low and generate drive off the ball.

6. DJ Reader, NT, Clemson
A two down NT who had some personal issues that required him to step away from the team early in the season. He has some Albert Haynesworth in him, moves very well for his size but his motor can run hot and cold. Limiting his reps in a rotation should do a lot to keep it running hot.

7. Michael Caputo, S, Wisconsin
Shrine game stand out. Depth at S and on special teams.

Ted Karras, OL, Illinois
Braxton Deaver, TE, Duke

This is nice. I'm just getting acquainted with this year's draft class. Spence ranks high on most of the LB boards that I've seen. Sounds like he could what Chris Carter just quite wasn't.

Seems to be a lot of character concerns but other than that like the draft. Not that your wrong on the Bengals needing to add dline depth(because I think your right) but do you think they would seriously draft 3 players when they have all that money locked in on the D line with Johnson, Dunlap, and Atkins?

Yes. Drafted players are cheaper than keeping guys like Thompson.
In 4-5 years when these guys are due for money, Atkins and Dunlap will be getting off the books and possibly headed to their last legs.

You can replace Roger Lewis with any WR in the 4th. I just can't pass up a chance to draft a Falcon as we get so few chances.

I'd be all for this draft.

1. Really like what I've seen from Spence while watching defensive end tape. Has a natural bend to him that outside of Dunlap we lack. I'm all for it. Think he could be the missing piece to having the best defensive line in the NFL.

2. Big fan of Rankins. A little concerned he may go sooner than this, but take him if he's there. He'd be our 2nd best defensive tackle just coming in. May be a rotational player at first due to Marvin and Peko. But definitely will get playing time.

3. My favorite pick in this draft. I love Deione Jones and he adds a linebacker threat that we haven't had in Cincinnati in YEARS. The cover LB we need who is also physical. Would like to see him in pass rushing situations more, however.

4. I like his talent, but hate what he's been accused of. It's hard for me to be happy about getting someone with his past.

5. Haven't watched too much of Glasgow in real games. But I've seen some tapes of his at the East-West Shrine Game and heard he's doing just as well at the Senior Bowl. Don't really have an opinion ob him, but by reports it looks like this would be a good pick.

6. Not too big on Reader. But definitely worth the risk in the 6th round.

7. It's depth and he looked decent at the Shrine Game.

I could be on board with this, but I got a feeling our O-Coordinator would not be a fan. I think center is bigger than a 5th rd need.

I dont think they could afford to put much more into right now, with a first, second and new deals to Whit and Boling with Zeitler on deck. 
I also don't think it would take much more than that to get at least a slight upgrade.

Most likely right and most of the higher ranked Centers come with holes. Wouldn't mind looking at the Whitehair kid and move either him or Z to center.

Maybe, being able to do that would be ideal given our need but it isn't that likely. 


Whitehair might sneak into the late first or early second to a guard needy team

Nice draft. Any concern with Glasgow's height 6'5" and Dalton's shorter than that at 6'2"?

Not sure we need 2 more DT, assuming Hardison and Williams make the roster next season.

Gilberry has been less and less productive. 
Hardison gets his spot.

Sims isn't retained. 
Reader get his spot.

Thompson isn't retained.
Rankins takes his spot. 


Williams can fight for a spot over one of the terrible DEs. 
He shouldn't be assumed as "on the roster"

I just wanted to be able to realistically draft a BGSU player (where I went to school).

Don't get many chances for that.

I would be happy with this. Some character concerns but if they get their shit together Spence and Lewis
could be very good. If Rankins falls all the way to us in the 2nd you have to take the guy.

I like the Reader pick as well, we need another big NT for the future.

I doubt Spence and Rankins would be available where you have them, but if they were they would upgrade an already dynamic defense.  Wonder if Jones will be there in the third too, but I'd love to have him.  Reader is a first class stuffer that we could use in goal line and third/short situations.  The receiver sounds intriguing - if they can qualify his character issues...

True, but they are losing Andre's contract, which would more than allow a 2nd or 3rd round center to come into the picture.

and ideally adding a new one for Iloka, Zeitler will get his in a year. 
It could be done, sure but at a cost of what other position?

We need a pass rusher, we need another DT, we need a cover LB...
I think Glasgow could easily be better than Bodine especially given the depth of center this year (there are actually good ones). 

I just can't see the team giving in fully on him after 2 years and investing a third top 3 round pick on OL in 2 years. 

Other needs have to be addressed eventually.
