American Pharoah wins Triple Crown
#1
A rare occurrence. The first horse to win the Triple Crown since 1978!

Now he will spend the rest of his life lounging around, banging mares, and raking in billions of dollars for his owners.
I'm gonna break every record they've got. I'm tellin' you right now. I don't know how I'm gonna do it, but it's goin' to get done.

Last horse to win the triple crown did it a few months before Bradshaw won his triple crown. Looks like Ben will have to win his 3rd this year.

He ran the fastest final quarter in Belmont Stakes history. Yes, faster than Secretariat's final quarter.

Secretariat had a better overall time. But Pharoah's final quarter was a beautiful thing to watch, and necessary for him to win. He had a crowd breathing down his neck. At that point in his race, Secretariat was at least four lengths ahead of the next horse. He had no competition left.

37 years and add a few because how many 40 year old people remember 1978 when they were 3 years old. Maybe some people 45 remember 1978 triple crown when they were 8, maybe. More like 47 to 50 year old people and over. ...So most people under 50 never saw a triple crown .....and THAT IS WHY it was great that it happened. ....More rare than seeing a no hitter or a 300 bowling game.....If you saw this on TV, you may never see it again. ......Only 12 triple crown winners ever.....so it is a very rare thing to see.

I see no point in comparing the 12 since track conditions could be fast to muddy regarding times......It takes a heck of a horse, a heck of a trainer, a heck of a jockey, a heck of an owner, mostly a heck of a horse to win The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and The Belmont.....and it takes luck. Some good horse got pinned in on one of the three races over the years. It takes some good luck to win all 3 races. Some very great horses won 2 out of 3 over the years.

For all the people that never saw a triple crown in their lifetime, I'm glad it happened. For those that had, you hadn't seen very many. I think this makes 4 triple crown winners since 1950, which isn't many.....Yes, the smart money is to put the horse out to stud. Horses break legs and such and are quickly shot and destroyed. This horse may....may race in The Breeders Cup....maybe. The horse really has nothing more to prove and the smart money is to put the horse out to stud. Let the other broken down nags race over and over for the gamblers who wager daily.
