Last year no MLB player hit over 40 HR (one hit exactly 40), only 11 players hit at least 30 HR, and only 21 hit 25 HR.
This year 4 players are on pace to hit 50 HR, 8 are on pace to hit at least 40, 19 are on pace to hit 30, and 37 are on pace to hit 25.
Last year only 13 players had a slugging percentage of .500 or better. So far this season there are 26 players with a .500 or better slugging percentage.
That isn't a minor increase. It is close to a 100% increase.
This can't just be a coincidence.
Last year Fraizers 29 HRs were good enough for 12th place. This year he has 23 in less than half of a season.
