Boldin Or Freeney?

Because we've got a good receiver, a serviceable receiver and a lot of question marks. Personally, I'm hoping one of the rookies/younger guys will get a chance and do as good.

with green and lafell... its hard to stock on any really old WR that will only be #3 or #4...  as at that point they will probly be needed for special teams as well.

Time for Kroft Uz Burk Tate and others to step up.    we might still add someone as the offseason progresses...  but we aren't the only ones with thoughts on boldin as I haven't seen him generate any interest or visits this offseason

I think it all depends on what you're looking for. I think Freeney offers the more immediate impact. I think he could do well with the talent around him as a pass rush specialist. If he came in and added 8 sacks to the defense like he did in Arizona last year, this defense may have the potential to be #1.

If you're looking for a more long term impact, I think Boldin is the guy. I think he could mentor Green and the rest of the receivers and teach them a few things. That could be something that could be felt over multiple seasons. I'm excited to see what Boyd can do, but a season behind Green, LaFell, and Boldin would be a great thing for him. 3 veteran WRs to pick their brains and learn from while having no pressure and learning the playbook sounds like an ideal situation for him.

That makes it a tough call. A superior defense would be great to help make up for any offensive miscues while Eifert is out and Boyd and the rest of the young receivers get up to speed. If the running game isn't performing well, Dalton regresses, whatever the case may be, a truly dominant defense would help with all of that. On the flip side, finally giving Green a quality veteran WR to learn from would be great. Green is obviously a great receiver, but to have a veteran that can further help his progression is worth it's weight in gold.

Even if it gets lower quality results at first, the Bengals need to force themselves to play the young guys at some point or else they will be between a rock and a hard place at DE.

Freeney could be good or he could be ok. It's just a crappy spot to be in all around and it's the team's own fault. I think they need to bite the bullet and get production from the young guys they have. Or not, cut them and move on. Bringing in another guy goes straight to cut them and move on.

The younger guys need to show something to deserve more snaps.

We cannot risk losing games to get them more snaps. Freeney would be an instant upgrade to our rotation
and we all known what he has shown, no falling off yet either. If he starts to fall off and the young guys
show more than him i would be very surprised.

This is all assuming he signs with us of course which might not even happen.
